Why do you support the Raiders? Have you lived in Canberra? I'm from Sydney as well but I support the Basedbies because I lived in Canberra as a kid and started supporting them then (also live in Canberra now).
Most of the Basedbies support comes from the ACT obv and rural NSW. Brumbies supporters are shitloads better than Raiders """fans""" who are fairweather as fuck. If you go to a Brumbies game, the support is completely partisan, whereas there are literally as many people at Raiders games supporting the other team as there are supporting the Raiders.
That said the Tards are my 2nd team.

Honestly I don't see how this competition would be any worse if South Africa was kicked out. All they do is fuck it up with timezones, corruption, racial quotas and now format rigging. The few extra shekels (if that is even true, never seen it proven) is in no way worth it

Undecided about Glasgow Connacht I think that game could go either way.

The last 3 includes 2014 when we were fucking class sham so have a re-think there now like a good boy.
Schmidtball itself with the innovations added to the attempted play in the 2016 6N sounds like a decent recipe for beating the Bokke to me.

Heaslip won't be dropped, also he's criminally under-rated. Toner is our senior lock and line-out operator he won't be dropped either, thick he should be pared with Hendo. Hendo is a good option at 6 though to combat Etzebeth and have Stander at 7 or 8 and Heaslip at 8 or some other combination if SOB is back.
Personally I see 2014 POM and Stander as much-of-a-muchness, but Stander is in form so he should be ahead.

Depends on our own injuries lad. We could get fucked over by them like we did in the 6 Nations.
Like if we're missing certain key players we're half the team we could be. We have partially competent depth but not quality players to fill in in every position especially certain key positions. IMO if SOB hadn't gone off against France we would have won for instance.

It's alright mate
The jags had a big year in the super rugby. They had to adjust to the travel requirements of the competition which isn't easy. They also probably were below the fitness level to play such a high calibre week in and week put. This added with the bad discipline of the players on the field has led to them losing a lot of games they should have won.
On paper at the start of the season they were strong favourites to win but they have let pretty much everyone down in the super rugby.
Hopefully the pumas can pull their socks up when it comes time for international tests
>>67666423
now that's an answer, and it only took an hour.
thanks lad
>>67666558
Short answer is:
>we had high hopes
>the jags crushed all our faith in Argentina rugby
>hopefully the international side prove their worth in june
>>67666423
They were never strong favourites to win it, the TAB gave them odds of like 100-1 which was the worst in the competition, even sunwolves were like 80-1.
People from /rug/ betting on the jaguares shows not only reveals them to be complete casuals who fell for the Argentina meme as a result of the world cup, but also highlights the dearth of genuine rugby knowledge of /rug/
>>67666423
>On paper at the start of the season they were strong favourites to win but they have let pretty much everyone down in the super rugby.
wew lad.
That must be why they were rank outsiders.
Memesters thought they would be tournament favourites, anyone with sense knew they would struggle, and that the real improvement is going to be in the Pumas over the next 2-3 years when the players in that team get an opportunity to play together and develop combos week in week out for a number of years.
>>67666975
>>67667060
In their first 4 games they were the favourites to win all but the game v the Sharks. Their losing streak including some huge margins which has put them in the outsiders
To win the competition was always going to be high odds because there are a lot of variables and the theory that super rugby could be too much for them to handle. From memory the wolves were and always have been the worse odds

Literally only memelords like you thought they could win. I bet you were one of those morons who put a bet on them.
>>67668148
During the world cup when the jags meme first surfaced I looked at the odds on the TAB and the jags were behind the sunwolves (who were also ahead of the kings) some people even found longer odds for the jags on the British sites at like 200-1.
You're right you were wrong to use the word strong but you were wrong to use the word favourites as well, even the blues had a better chance of winning super rugby at the start of the season.

There must be an image floating around somewhere of it, because it was posted here more than once, and every pleb was talking about how the odds were outrageous and they were going to put a cheeky fiver on it for them to win the african comp or the whole thing.
Why don't Yuro Rugby teams try to poach League players more?
ARU obviously can't do it by virtue of being bankrupt but NRL players earn chicken feed compared to Yuro Rugby and there's plenty of them who would make good backs.
>>67668667
>and every pleb was talking about how the odds were outrageous and they were going to put a cheeky fiver on it for them to win the african comp or the whole thing.
I remember this too.
>>67668698
It's happened, Leinster poached Ben Te'o who took nearly a year to adapt but adapted eventually pretty well he did.
He's on his way to Worcester now though.
>>67668767
Te'o is shit m8
I'm talking about going after the top talent like the French and English are doing to the Australian Super Rugby clubs.
The irony is the Australian Rugby teams are trying to fill the gap by poaching leaguies so I'm just surprised the Yuros aren't doing the same thing. it wouldn't reap the same immediate results that poaching Union players does but there is more talent in the NRL and it probably wouldn't cost as much to get them.
>>67668608
They literally did have worse odds (I'm talking about winning the entire thing not the odds for individual games) though, admittedly at the time though I'm pretty sure they didn't have any contracted players at the time and so maybe the bookies thought they would pull together a better squad than they eventually did.
Anyhow they did have longer odds than the sunwolves because I remember that surprising me as I thought that a team with a decent chunk or Argentinian internationals would be significantly better than the equivalent with Japanese players.
>>67668824
The trouble is that if you remove a leaguie from Western Sydney they immediately die. They can't exist in an area that doesn't have a Red Rooster within a kilometre.
>>67668976
No wonder Kurtley blew his knee. His mind may have been set on going overseas but his body simply imploded at the prospect.
>>67668826
>They literally did have worse odds
No they didn't mate
Wolves and Kings were both below them, by quite a lot. Kings were at least 200:1 IIRC
Stop pretending you know anything about rugby mate and go back to the shithole you crawled out of.
>>67668698
ARU are so fucking bankrupt its not even funny.
Especially now that NRL teams have 2nd tier contracts that pay as much as a starting Super Rugby player. We used to get NRL stars. Now we get guys that are Q-Cup, or only just scraping their way into the reserves bench in the under 20's.
AFL as well. There average salary is crazy high. Imagine having a Debreczeni or Jesse Mogg (except actually good), booting the ball 60m+ all day.
>>67668824
>Te'o
>shit

He won a premiership, played 3 years of finals, and played in 3 years in a row of winning State of Origin teams. Pretty good for 6 years in league.
>>67669072
>be ARU

>popularity of the sport and public interest at all time high
>on par with if not outright beating League
>13 years later get from there to where we are now
How is it even possible to be that incompetent? I sure as fuck hope they enjoyed their Murdoch shekels because they killed the sport to get them. The ARU is somehow even worse than the England Cricket Board.
>>67658222
Is Pietersen injured or something?
>>67669038
I'm not talking shit though, the TAB literally had them worst at the time roughly, some bookies had them at worst odds than that, maybe you looked at different sites or at different times.
Like I said the sunwolves didn't have any contracted players at that time so maybe the bookies thought they would build a stronger team than they thought, hell they didn't even have a name yet (you could bet on the "Japanese super rugby franchise" and their was a footnote saying that if they didn't go ahead, because there was a tiny bit of doubt there, you'd get a refund).
And you criticising anyone's rugby knowledge is fucking hilarious when you literally described them as strong favourites, yeah their season has been disappointing but if you thought they'd even be top 4 you're retarded.

I'd rather the pro12 did a H cup style tournament with Super rugby teams. Even if they demolished us the first few times, the experience would be invaluable and the level of rugby would be much better than playing with the French and English. Let them have their shite competition.

Rugby lads don't go to clubs, that's for leaguies and soccer players.
If you're a rugby lad:
1. You already have a gf, but she's not allowed to come when you go out with the lads after a game;
2. You have a job at a reputable firm that you got as a result of your connections to the old boy's network;
3. You go to the pub rather than a nightclub because you're not a 14 year old dutch girl.

>>67687166
I was using pub in the colloquial sense rather than meaning a public house.
When I was in argentina we'd go to a bar, but when I played in australia we always had a venue that would sponsor us and we'd all go there. They were almost always old school wood panel pubs.
All this bar talk has got me looking forward to mid winter. My favourite bar gets some warm beers on tap (beer that's kept at a warmer temp than normal) and they have an awesome little covered outdoor area with an open fire and comfy couches.
>>67689058

Well he's not terrible. At the same time, he isn't great. Literally a "coconunt". Koroibete was let go by Wests Tigers for being too shit for even them. Can't communicate in the game. Ugly as sin. No defensive mindset at all. Try scoring freak though.
Only thing is he'll let in 2 tries per game. Nothing good will come of this signing.
Seriously don't understand why Cheika want's another dumb coconut so bad. Unless he sees something we all don't. It boggles the mind, this signing. Can't believe the ARU is even topping up his wage. It bothers me that he will likely be playing for the wallabies soon. Dead on arrival desu. Expecting him to fail at international level.
Will probably be the top try scorer for the Rebels next season though. And he'll get fast tracked into the Wallabies only to be exposed defensively. Terrible signing. Can't see him performing well against even the worst NH rugby national teams. He will be mentally shattered and never recover as an athlete after his failed rugby stint.

Think of Queerslanders like Poo Peelanders. They have such a massive fucking inferiority complex that they'd be happy to see NSW lose even if it meant Australian Rugby fell to pieces.
>>67717272
what are you talking about lad i'm in the capital
Gonna get some e-cigs today lads.

i don't watch rugby often but in league why don't they just kick it into the goal after 5th tackle instead of forcing a low% try. Try is only worth 4+2. Why not just get the 1 point every possession where it looks like a try ain't happening?
Just end the game now please
>>67717453
do you mean why don't they just kick a drop goal?
>>67717475
a field goal. worth 1 point right? I never see them do that
>>67717481
It's worth 3 points. Main reason is that it's pretty hard to nail and it's 90% safer to just chill there until the opposition gets penalised and take the place kick which is far easier to nail
Some people are saying the droppie should be worth 4, and I'm inclined to agree. It takes balls to do. Either that or drop the penalty to 2 points, but that's becoming a bit leaguey
>>67717496
he was actually referring to league
what is this kicking back and forth bullshit? are they tired or something?
>>67717481
>field goal
That's NFL terminology. I'm quite sure union and league both call it drop goal.
>that entire sequence
>>67717594
we do
waracheats.
Dinner was great sissies. Had soft shell crab followed by blue cod and bone marrow risotto and then chocolate mousse and an espresso.
/rug/ is in a sad state this weekend. This is what happens when you let autistic thread cunts who do nothing but post negative comments about devvo lad and I.
You guys need more positivity in your """lives""" lol

It's not even calculus lad, it's just simple arithmetic.
How long until all rugby outside of NZ is considered irrelevant?
SA/Aus are quickly headed the way of the northern hemisphere.
what times are london sevens ?
>>67718103
>tfw nobody wants to play our meme sport with us
>>67718140
Our ladies don't even want to play netball with you anymore desu.
>>67718103
It already is m8
It's why the IRB are pushing for povo countries like Romania, they're the only hope for the future
>>67718150
wat? >we won the netball world cup last year
>>67718161
I know you're memeing, but that's unironically what WR is doing
>fuck the established Rugby nations, lets invest in memes like nippon!
you'd think daniel was running world rugby
>>67718208
I mean the ANZ Championship is folding after this year because of low ratings from the New Zealand sides, and the new broadcast deal with Netball Australia means an Australian only 8 team comp.
Melbourne Storm, Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney are the 3 new teams.
>>67718103
>meanwhile french and english leagues sign record breaking TV deals
>>67718282
yeah because buying up all the best foreigners has worked so fucking well for your soccer team
>>67718282
And it's totally a coincidence that a group of high-profile NZ players just retired from international and started playing in your meme leagues.
>>67718282
>tfw rugby is turning into soccer and soon test matches will be called friendlies and no one will care about them outside of the world cup
>>67718336
Just pointing out SA and Australian rugby is nothing like the NH.
>>67718514
And yet both countries are still lightyears better than any NH team
>>67718552
All 3 fans who show up to your games must be very proud.
I would like to point out that the poosaders failed to get the bonus point so the Chiefs will go back top after they rape the rebels
>>67718576
>bragging that your highly paid, well supported players are literally garbage compared to a bunch of coconuts and private school lads who play the game in a country which doesn't give a shit about it
Tell me, where were all of your """fans""" after the group stages of the WC?
think i'm gonna stand up for the leinstermen later 2behon
>>67719077
You're a disgrace to that flag
>>67719163
Why would Ireland, which is part of the British isles, be a disgrace to the great British flag?
>watching an all-irish affair
>it's a NH posters think they can say a thing about NZ rugby
Try again when you have again better record versus us
The San Diego team want to be called the San Diego Dragons but the fans want to call them the San Diego Seals.
Team looks strong, particularly happy with keeping Naiyovoro on the bench. Also glad to see Fagerson progressing so well. Fairly confident they can learn from their mistakes last time and hopefully the reffing is up to scratch this time.
>>67719235
All terrorists and separatists disgrace the flag (and their own flag within the flag).
/rug/ is pretty fucking slow tonight.
What happened?
>>67719862
Lamont on unstoppable cap machine watch.
>>67720026
The Welsh have hidden from sheer embarrassment like the English did post-WC. Only muscular Ulstermen and Scots remain (along with a few dirty seperatists).
>>67720065
>mfw I am literally the guy perpetuating the 'stand up for the ulstermen' meme and I'm not even Irish
>>67720057
The Scots backs academy only exists for Lamont to feed on the life force of young prospects and leave them suddenly talentless.

>2 countries combine for 73% of AB losses
start pulling your weight NH
>>67720416
Probably not considering wales has piss poor depth.
Outside backs should something of a revolving door. The speed required for the position is really based on youth. North is really pretty average and would struggle to a starting spot in a nz super rugby side.
>>67720634
>current Fatvea
>better than North
come on man
Herper has 51 at 24
>>67720660
Fatvea doesn't deserve to start. Even im a better choice than current fatvea
>>67720688
51 extra chromosomes?
>Hooper is 24
What the actual fuck I thought he might have been pushing 30 or something
>>67720898
Liam Gill, Kerevi, Jarrad Butler, Hooper, Ready, McMahon and Luke Jones are all 25 or under.
literally the only good thing about Australian Rugby at the moment is we have so many good players coming through. Except locks, and wingers.

Nothing wrong with Foley.
Eddie Jones firing shots at Super Rugby.

Kerevi is going to europe? seriously? australia is fucked, he's a massive prospect
>>67721433
Wait, scrap that, as of today he re-signed
http://www.rugby.com.au/news/2016/05/20/02/04/samu-kerevi-staying-at-ballymore
I knew his contract was expiring which is why I said that. Glad I was wrong
>>67721224
I was referring to under 25s
>>67721461
The Australian said about a week ago that he turned down a big offer from the Rebels to stay
>>67721483
There's a big difference between that and fending the French clubs off though. The French are literally approaching anyone half decent and offering them double their salary. That's why the Brumbies are getting gutted because except for literally Jackson-Hope all the players are from Sydney & QLD so they dont even have that home-town factor.
>>67721472
It's time to bring him home.
Can't bomb the Con
>>67721570
i always liked him better on the wing
>>67721570
>>67721606
How has he been playing for Poolon?
>>67721617
They use him as a utility guy from what I've seen. Changes position week to week
Hey
>>67722315
Hey.
What's up?
>>67722332
Not much.
What's up with you?
>>67721606
Always thought he was wasted on the wing. His best position was fullback but I saw him maturing into a 5/8 and really thought he was gonna be the wobs long term 10.
>>67721224
>unironically thinking Foley is Australias best option at 10
>>67722575
He has 44 caps and he's only 25 and he hasn't played test rugby in like 2 years right?
What happened? Did he drop off in form or was it because he moved to Europe?
>>67722315
hello
>>67722692
He was garbage when he came back to Australia last season and couldn't crack the Wallabies, so he went back to Europe.
>>67722735
How did he go from great prospect for the future to shit in a few years?
>>67722799
Because he's a narcissistic cunt who cares more about his hair and his clothing line than he does his rugby.
Also you can't blame a person for chasing money by going overseas to play, as athletes generally have a short time span to make money, but he couldn't hone his skills over there, and was never tested by quality opposition causing his development to stagnate.
