I should try and plan a holiday at a place that hosts a GP next year and get tickets. Problem is that my regular travelling companion cares not for racing and I don't want to leave her on her own for a full day.
Whats the best track that isn't extremely expensive? I prefer to stay in Europe.

At any race track in any racing series, isn't sitting in the frontstretch grandstands the single shittiest spot to view a race in person? Any track with even one good corner would be so much better
>>
>>67375956
no usually there are shittier spots, plus u get to see the pits, celebrations, grid, etc
>>
>>67375956

You also get to see the leaderboard and you get to see the start. And of course the actual finish of the race. So yeah front stretch is pretty much the premium seats to watch the race.

schumi wasn't actually that good
>>
>>67375956
Yes and no. I've been to the circuit for years, been pretty much everywhere and it depends on what you prefer

The grandstands are nice because you get to see the teams preparing, and you get to see the drivers and celebrities camping around like a swarm, but once that is over, there isn't much value to them. If you've already done pictures of the drivers on Thursday or the other days where you can go anywhere, there's not much to them

In Montmelo this is even worse, because you don't get to actually see the race. In normal tracks you have screens, in Montmelo in the grandstands you have jack shit. To top it off, the scoreboard on Montmelo only has the driver number, so you don't really know who's who unless you get a paper copy with all the numbers.

The pelouse is nice because there's a LOT of ambient, in the Alonso era there was also a lot of activities made by teams so it was also fun to just be there.

The better places are the ones where you get to see most of the action, for example in Montmelo it's best to be in the last grandstand, where you see all the track and you have a gigantic monitor at the end of the last turn as well

That said, this is my experience on the Circuit only, on F1, Moto, truck races I went for the keks, GT, one 24h and random stuff sometimes, but I assume it's the same deal

So Grandstand = take photos, pelouse = have fun, selected stand = go watch the race

Okay, I'll bite. The only ones that could be argued that he didn't earn, were 2001, 2002 and 2004, due to them being in dominant machinery.

But then, he was the essential driving factor that got Ferrari into that position of strength in the first place. Had he not signed with them in '96, Ross Brawn would have gone fishing at the end of '96, and Rory Byrne had already gone to set up his scuba diving institute in Thailand. They've both been on record saying that they came back because of the allure of working with MSC again, and making Ferrari great again.

So I'd say that by influencing two of the top engineering minds of F1 history by such a major degree, and by sticking loyally with the team through the ups and downs of the late 90s (unlike a certain Spaniard who loved to slag his own team off) he did in fact earn the dominant titles too.
>>

Is anyone supporting Kyvat? They were probably going to ditch him at the they end of the year anyway, but doing it early in the season just one race after he was on the podium seems harsh and unfair.
>>

I'm indifferent. This is how RB operates. They are just a huge mountain of jerk-offs but they can win. RB will win a WDC or WCC before Ferrari does.
>>

I do. He outscored Rico, got the only RB's podium this season and made Vettel cry. I'm not happy to change that to Amd Amx tears lol.

Marlboro wouldn't bother sponsoring any team now. Obviously it was an advertisment-livery, but White/Red is the Japanese 'racing colors'. Considering Honda is the engine supplier, and no one else is using those colors, It would make sense. I think they painted it Black/Red as a reference to the White/Red anyway. I'd argue that the old Silver/Red was a subtle reference to that too. It's probably the 2nd most iconic F1 livery other then Ferrari Red.

They still sponsor Ferrari, though. They own all ad-space on the livery, which they then sell to other bidders, which is how they recoup their investment.

Yeah, thats true, but I thought they actually owned a significant share of the team as well? Either way, McLaren don't really have a slew of sponsors like Ferrari do, so I dunno if it would be a good investment anyway.

Secondly, whether Honda/other sponsors would allow McLaren to take on a tobacco sponsor is the other thing. I'm sure someone would take issue with it. Also if they have to re-neg they're ad space on the car, they might not bother.

It would be a deal with the parent company, Phillip Morris (like it is with Ferrari), so that wouldn't be the issue. The case against subliminal advertising may be a bigger factor though, although it did nothing against the Lotus faux JPS livery

How can you not see this? With the livery and the team logo combined, the Marlboro logo is clearly visible, from this side at least. Hell, the team logo itself is displaying the Marlboro logo somehow.

They were forced to change their livery in 2010 when everyone claimed that it was too obvious.. So they made it less obvious from 2011 to 2015.
This year it's so obvious again.. I'm wondering why no whiteknight health concerned faggot hasn't raged about it on his blog yet.

>It would be a deal with the parent company, Phillip Morris (like it is with Ferrari), so that wouldn't be the issue.

Phillip Morris is still a tobacco company. With Ferrari it never ended, but for McLaren this would be a new deal. It's probably unlikely that any sponsor would have a problem with it because it's not a direct conflict of interest, but if media span it the wrong way, some of the sponsors might have an issue with it.

In any case, I think it would be unlikely PM/Marlboro would bother with it. There's a lot more lucrative things to stick their fingers into.

The package on the left is a minimalist design but there is nothing subliminal about it.

On the Ferrari you have to actively be looking for it to see the minimal resemblance (if there is one). That is not how advertising works.

>There was sad news in F1 this week as Dr Helmut Marko had his dog shot.

>‘It’s a shame because the dog was very loyal and usually well behaved,’ explained a Red Bull insider. ‘In fact, just two weeks ago the dog saved some orphans from inside a burning building. But then it slightly growled when it saw a squirrel outside and Dr Marko had it shot.’

>The dog will be replaced by a new, younger dog from Dr Marko’s Italian puppy farm which will be looked after by Christian Horner. ‘Christian is very excited to get the new dog,’ said a source. ‘And he doesn’t even mind the dog’s dad hanging around the garage in a bad leather jacket looking like a boozy scrap metal dealer.’

No its not. Just because the team color is red and white it doesn't mean you have to start masturbating for some conspiracy when anything that resembles a V shape appears somewhere.

Subliminal advertising does not work. Marlboro has a partnership with Ferrari for a number of different reasons and poorly hiding a logo somewhere in the car isn't one of them. If it was F1 retards wouldn't be the only ones talking about it.

He's still in F1. It's not a huge disaster. Kvyat might need some time to develop, like Grosjean for example.
>>
>>67398081
With Grosjean it was easily obvious he was under prepared and even he knew that. With Daniil it's not that he is under-prepared. He is doing fine. He is being moved out for to make way for the potential of Max.
It's a huge psychological blow. I can't see him recovering. I can't see him going any further up the grid. Just struggling until eventually becoming a reserve driver for some team before retiring young.

It's not nice and I feel supremely sorry for him. I just want to give him a hug.
>>
>>67371940
Why not Monaco? You can stay in Nice and take the train in. The hill section is the cheapest and it's actually a good view.
>>
>>67398312
So you can determine that this is a huge psychological blow? Do you have some sort of telepathy with Kvyat? I understand it could injure his mindset, but if he's good enough it won't and he will remain and deserve to be in F1.
>>
>>67398631
The moment he is out of the red bull programme he is fucked.

His performance at Toro Rosso means little. No matter what happens Max has got his Red Bull seat. They will not replace Max for anything short of death.
No matter what he will be replaced at the end of the year so fresh talent can come in.
He isn't going to get any help from Red Bull or Toro Rosso in getting a seat at a different team and I have no idea on his sponsor situation to try and get a seat.

Maybe he will get a seat elsewhere but he isn't going any higher. For all it's worth his F1 career has stopped.

He could go to Formula E, maybe touring cars. He is quite smart he might find something outside of motor racing.
I just hope he can get some happiness back.

> As I understand it, Verstappen signed for Toro Rosso on a 2+1 contract. In other words, a two-year deal with a one-year extension option. This week, Verstappen is believed to have signed a new contract in which the plus one has become a plus three – at Red Bull Racing. Guaranteed. So Verstappen will be a Red Bull Racing driver not just for 2016, but 2017-19 too. He won't be a free agent until 2020, a season he will begin aged just 22.
