wtf... I guess we /meme magic/ now can't astop now

>my face when "people" actually think that the Philadelphia Eagles will not make a deep playoff run simply because they parrot their Orson Welles memes non-stop on a Universal Meme Lexicon forum
Some bottom of the barrel shitty Euro Soccer team: Leicester City FC [Think 25 times worse than the Cleveland Browns] just won their league (the English Premier league) after starting the season with 5000:1 odds of taking the chip
The Vegas Odds of The Philadelphia Eagles doing the same in the National Football League? 65:1
L.M.Fucking.A.O. /sp/ isn't ready

>Carson Wentz aka The Great White Hope, aka Blue Eyes White Dragon 2.0 aka First I BLEACHED Your Bitch Then I BLEACHED Your Wife aka The Next Brett Favre
>Sam Bradford (logistically and statistically, a quarterback)
>Zach Ertz (a top 5 TE he will put up 1300+YDs/9TDs)
>Jordan Matthews (Literally has Jerry Rice in his blood)
>Nelson Agholor (JMac clone 1000+YDs/8+TDs)
>Darren Sproles (the current NFL all purpose yards leader who will 100% not get any older unlike the entirety of the human population; black don't crack)
>Ryan Mathews (a first round pedigree HB)
>Brent Celek (a TE that can block better than any FB)

>Top 2 secondary in the NFC East
>Top 3 NFC LB corps
>Top 3 NFC DC
>Top 3 D-Line consisting of:

>DE Brandon "Break Your QB's Back Like a" Graham "Cracker"
>DT Fletcher "Big Black" Cox
>DT Bennie "Immovable object" Logan
and
>DE Connor "I taught J.J. Watt everything he knows" and "My hair gets bitches wetter than Katrina" Barwin

>Top 1 Safety Duo in the League consisting of:

>Malcolm "Punished elite" Jenkins (The best Safety in the National Football League)
and
>Rodney "Sleep tight Manny" Mcleod Jr. (an Earl Thomas Ed Reed hybrid)

Barring an occurrence of 32 statistical possibilities, there is literally no way the Eagles are missing the Super Bowl this season

The Philadelphia Eagles playoff-win drought ends in 2016-2017

96 here, so I don't remember pre 2001 era. This video had a great compilation of hits, and raises the point of whether or not the NFL has become to soft. I wanted to ask /nfl/ old schoolers the question, how much softer has the game become, and would you be on the side of giving more 'rights' back to defensive players to make the game more similar to the style seen played from the birth of football until the early to mid 2000s?

What a time to be alive as a Cowboys fan. This team is the best it's ever been since 1995. The best oline. A Top 4 in the NFL QB. Dez Bryant. And now we have one of the best RB prospects since LaDainian Tomlinson. This team is so young and so talented. Romo will take this team to deep playoffs runs and most likely even a Superbowl. And after he retires in 2019 Dak will be ready to continue the Cowboys Dynasty.

What a good time to be a cowboy fan

Panthers end the season with a losing record. Cam Newton is a butthurt faggot. Niggers should never be Quarterbacks.

At least 1 Steeler gets another DUI/possession charge.

Elliot is a swag nigger and will be a bigger distraction than anything for the Cowboys. Might as well have signed Johnny Football so they can overflow the toilet.

Saints have another losing season because they fucking suck dick and hairy ass at drafting good players, and waste money on free agency on washed up injury prone has beens.

Aaron Rodgers beats at least 1 NFL record and wins the Super Bowl. Clay Matthews is still a faggot that runs around like a chicken with his head cut off though. He had one good play in the Super Bowl and suddenly he's a superstar. What the fuck people?

The pass rush was mostly ineffective last year because Crawford played essentially the whole year with a torn pectoral. He wasn't getting double teams because of it and the pass rush could only hurry albeit ineffectively at times. With Lawrence and Gregory both out the first four games the pass rush will be very conservative for the time being but the Cowboys play primarily in the nickel anyway. When Gregory and Lawrence get back and assuming they behave the defense will likely be a Top 10 when you factor in Carr and Claiborne playing better (and getting paid less), Scandrick being fully healthy, and The offense controlling the clock again.

Carr and Claiborne played relatively decent last season, enough so that they helped the Cowboys end as 5th in the league in passing yards allowed. Gregory hasn't played enough but Demarcus Lawrence had 8 sacks. Not good but not bad either. Good enough to be ranked 12th among all DEs in Sacks last year.

Who are you talking to right now? Who is it that you think you see? Do you know how much I make a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it.

Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going into to work? A business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ goes belly up. Disappears! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in.

I am not in Danger, /nfl/. I AM the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks!

>>
>>67331962
I started watching the Jets the season Geno started. He brought them to 8-8, sometimes he was a shit show but other times he had nice roll outs and nice throws. Second year was tough, injured eric decker, shitty wide receivers. The defense wasn't even that great his second year. He played in a tough offense that tried to use a ton of gadet plays.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I don't tihnk he's a leader. Hackenberg has been said to be a great leder and if the Jets can help his fundamentals and keep him supplied with the kind of wide receivers I think he'll be good.
>>
>>67332200
even better

I wouldn't blame the special teams on Bowles. The previous organization left him with almost no depth. I would critique his clock management though, and not being transparent about why they didn't run Ivory towards the end of the season

Shocking. Just because he's good it doesn't mean he isn't awfully dirty. He was a cheap shot artist.

And of course I forgot about Haynesworth, another Jeff Fisher player.
>>
>But let’s hear them tell it. Because talking with them, it’s easier to see why the Patriots used such a high pick on him. Parcells, who has been a mentor to Brissett, threw out some lofty names when talking about the young man and what he brings to the table.

>“He’s a Curtis Martin, Willie McGinest, Troy Brown type player. That’s the kind of guy he is. That’s what New England is getting,” Parcells said when reached yesterday. “Those kinds, those Tedy Bruschi types, those players who’ve been successful — he’s very similar in his personal life to those kinds of guys.”

I'd love to see more man coverage. Remember when then Packers had the Dreadlock Duo, McKenzie and Harris? They were so physical with their coverage and I loved it. You'd have never gotten the "We want the ball and we're gonna score" moment without it. But yeah, Shields and Randall outside, Rollins in the slot, and Burnett and Haha at safety. This has potential to be the best secondary the Packers have had in year, but if the front seven can't execute then the secondary will suffer.

Kessler is easily one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the draft.

Check out his stats compared to Goff.

HOWEVER: College stats don't always translate. This guy could easily be the next Colt McCoy.
>>
>>67336985
They're also shit for WRs and RBs. I see value in what you said, OL, some DL, and QBs to an extent.

You're right though their coverage ratings are total shit and their tackling stats make no sense.
>>
>>67336997
Although he's phenomenally accurate, he has a fucking noodle arm. That doesn't bode well for a cold ass weather windy division like AFCN
>>
>>67336997
>stats

It's going to be really interesting how moneyball GM comes to terms with the fact that football stats are really muddy.

The entire Browns draft was
>trade back to amass more picks
>take most productive college player despite attributes and scheme

It's like half the Patriots draft philosophy, but then the entirely opposite on player evaluation. Same with the Seahawks, who draft for attributes over production and in some cases playing experience.
>>
>>67337014
ifirc they had bradford as a top 5 QB this year lel
i'm sorta drunk so I might be misremembering
I do think they grade o-lines half decent tho,
>>
What are your guys' thoughts on Tyler Boyd?
>>
>>67337060
>despite attributes

Coleman is a manlet but he's really athletic. Pretty damn fast and his vertical is great which allows him to play bigger than he is (think Steve Smith)
>>
>>67337027
Eh noodle arm syndrome is very overrated.
Kaepernick and Flacco have probably the biggest arms in the NFL but that doesn't make them better than anyone else.

Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, and Ryan Fitzpatrick are all varying degrees of good QBs and they've got the noodle arm, or at least they have had the noodle arm.
>>
>>67337104
Flacco and Ben have rocket arms and Dalton has a strong arm as well. It's just often the decisive factor in that division.
>>
>>67337101
I don't mean good/bad attributes, I mean scheme specific attributes.

Like Brent Grimes has/had supreme jumping skills, hands, anticipation and body control. He'd be total shit playing in the role Richard Sherman does though. And Sherman would be shit in a soft zone scheme.

imo you draft/sign for what a player can do, not for what they have done in the past. The major component for that is scheme.

I'd put Dalton and Ryan in the same category as far as arm strength. Can throw a good, accurate deep ball, but it came with work and it wasn't natural for them. Out of college both of them struggled with the deep ball but I think throwing to AJ and Julio may've pressed them to work on it and git gud.

You're probably right that Rodgers has the strongest arm in the NFL but really his other attributes help put him over the top. He's got a cannon, a super short throwing motion, pinpoint accuracy, athleticism, savvy at the line of scrimmage, really he has everything

It's Rodgers though, by far the best QB in the NFL from a skill perspective and it isn't close even though Brady and Brees are still Hall of Fame >elite QBs.
>>
>>67335784
I've been watching some games of him, not highlights so it's not bias, he's okay, well see how he competes for the job.
>>
It's been 4 days since the draft and people are still trying their hardest to justify drafting a kicker in the second.
>>
>>67337161
You know that sometimes a player makes a great play and doesn't get a stat for it. Or sometimes a player makes the really hard play for a stat, but that stat amounts to the same as an easy INT/Sack/TD/Tackle etc

I'm talking about watching games, not combine babies. When you watch players play you can note what they do really well and what they don't do really well without looking at stats.
>>
>>67337204
I think nobody gives a fuck about the Bucs.

But really even if he turned out to be the best kicker ever it's still a massive reach.
>>
>>67337204

>>
>>67337204

>>
>>67337104
Cutler has the biggest arm in the League.
>>
>>67337253
Yeah but Baseball is totally different than Football in that regard.

On a given pitch, there are only a very limited number of outcomes. You're also talking about a very, very large sample size.

Compare that to football. On any given play there are seemingly an infinite number of outcomes. Teams play only 16 games in the pros and 12 in college.

That isn't to say that stats are useless in football, but they should be used to supplement evaluation, not create evaluations. Like combine stats.

What can we take away from this?

If their offence can maintain their level from last year they can win 10 games with the additions on defence

>Reggie Nelson
>Karl Joseph
>Sean Smith
>Bruce Irvin
>Jihad Ward
>Shillique Calhoun

Only thing they should be concerned about is the lack of playmakers they have on offence. Amari Cooper is great so far but if he goes down what do you have? Clive Walford and Michael Crabtree ain't winning you games
>>
>>67342410
They aren't good, whens the last time they had a winning record?
>>

Don't forget Aldon Smith comes back week 10.

Also the addition of Osemele and DeAndre Washington should significantly help the run game. Carr was our second leading rusher last year, that will definitely change this season

Vegas knows their shit this all looks pretty accurate

NFC side I'd say they're being very generous giving the iggles 7 wins and underrating the moves the Saints have made with only 6.5

ADC all looks legit but I'm worried my Ravens are in for a rough year. I could see us making the playoffs even winning the division however I could also see us finishing 4th in the division. It's just how much I respect every other team in our division now the Hue Jackson has taken over the Browns

>>
>>67342576
Even if he does the Raiders O-Line will still be one of the best in the league. Vadal Alexander or Jon Feliciano will be able to step in and hold down the RG spot just fine.
>>
>>67342636
I have a feeling Reece will be thrown in more than ever this year, maybe not as a FB, but a TE/RB
>>
>>67342499
Doesn't really count as an addition since he played for em last year. Still 6 games of another high end pass rusher could make all the difference

Osemele definitely helps but still Murray, Washington, Walford, Rivera, Crabtree ugh It's just underwhelming as fuck. If Cooper misses any time this year they are going to have to play a lot of small ball

>>67342550
They signed and drafted a ton of talent. It doesn't compare at all to 2014 or other years

Reggie Nelson has been the most dominant defensive player in the AFC North in the last 3 years. I've watched him take over games in one of the toughest divisons in the NFL

Sean Smith is a good player not great but with David Amerson starting on the other side they should form a nice CB duo with DJ Hayden filling in when needed

Karl Joseph was my favorite player heading into this draft

Irvin is average at LB but if he can provide a consistent pass rush with O lines sliding to Khalil Mack then it will defintely help their team

Don't know much about Jihad Ward but Calhoun is one of the better pass rushers in the draft. He fell because teams don't think he's physical enough but he had some serious production against top competition in his college career

AFC West is going to be very interesting this year
>>
>>67342630
you guys should just let rivers call all the plays. Is he the only signal caller that doesn't use the forearm plays and has them all memorized? Maybe Brady doesn't use it either? Either way, he's a better OC than Reich was. I guess wisenhunt back
>>
>>67342636
Agreed, Olawale showed that he can be a big threat in the run game last season. As much as I love Reece, he's getting old and his time is coming to an end as the best FB in the game

also just wondering are you guys definitely playing a 4-3 this year? I thought they were transitioning to a 3-4 or hybrid front?

No. Id say its Jay Cutler. Hes incredibly football smart when it comes to running an offense.

How many yards will MGIII have this year?

Was last year a fluke or is it the curse of the badger backs like USC Quaterbacks?

I disagree with knocking Sean Smith and Gabe Jackson. Both of those players are great. And Irvin is an unknown factor because we'll be using him a bit differently than the seahawks did
>>
>>67342824
Definitely. I was way high on Gordon coming out but the Chargers definitely needed to improve on the O line more than I thought

Getting Whiz back helps
>>
>>67342821
I agreed that he was subjectively the best rookie TE on the field last year.

If only he had caught that pass he laid out for in the 4th quarter against the... bengals?
>>
>>67342821
And Walford missed pretty much all of the offseason program and didn't see significant snaps until week 5 and I don't think he started until a few weeks after that if I remember correctly
>>
>>67342846
He'll need to produce on special teams to make the team I think. Need more oline than a FB, although I miss Neal and that little white guy who's name I can't recall right now. Used to do reverse hand offs to him on 3 and 1 a lot
>>

Sean Smith is by no means a great CB he was probably the weakest part of the Chiefs secondary last year

If anything he's closer to NFL average at CB than great but I'll give him good since he tackles well and isn't a zone babby
>>
>>67342880
I'm not sure about that. They really need an FB in the back to help with that goddamn blocking -- and it helps that Watt played with Gordon in Wis.

Ok we need to talk about this word "elite". for sure Elite are Brady and Rodgers. People you can make a very good argument for Rivers, Brees and Roth. Those are the 5 right now. Romo is very good, can't call him elite, especially after his vagina season last year.
