I obviously don't speak for every Panther fan, but I don't mind this decision. I'd rather extend Short with the cap savings we have and save the rest for Turner and Benjamin (possibly Ealy too). Yeah it's gonna suck having one of last year's best 3 corners, but he's asking for Revis money when he's only been elite for one year. There's no way he still puts up 2015's numbers 4 or 5 years into his deal

Browns pretty much need everything. They don't have any depth at any position, and they really don't have any sort of skill besides Joe Thomas and maybe Haden.
The lead QBs are RGKnee and HelicopterMccown
Joe Thomas is nice, but Mack and Schwartz left so the center and right side of the line is in question.
The Wide Receiver corps lost Benjamin the only guy who was doing anything. Terrell Pryor got some praise from Hue, I guess that's something.
Browns have probably the worst defense in the league, so any top level pick anywhere can help immediately there.
>>

Unless Erving was just out of his natural element at G, I don't expect him to stride towards anything but mediocrity and a Bust. I'd rather see them grab the kid from Michigan State or Tuerk from USC. Both guys are solid centers. Erving had horrible technique and it hurt him. Now, the argument about strength can be made, but even Joe Thomas made the statement that footwork and technique are the most important factors, then admitted to being one of the physically weakest linemen in the game.

Ramsey would definitely be the best choice if the Chargers dont take him but I dunno if they can get the pass rushing talent in round 2-3 they need. I mean they literally need two starting DE's now since Cedric Thornton will likely play DT in Dallas' scheme

>>66980386
Who still has the money to give Norman atleast 9-10 mil this year?

also I saw the Saints as a WC team before they let Norman go. Their defence will be better with Kendrick Lewis healthy and they will almost certainly draft either Shaq Lawson or Noah Spence at pick 12 so they could challenge but I still like the Panthers more for the NFC South title
>>
>>66980504
>Who still has the money to give Norman atleast 9-10 mil this year?

Jacksonville, Cleveland, Oakland, probably someone else too.
>>
>>66980389
True, but look at their record each year with and without him. Not much of a difference. Given that's primarily because of the merry-go-round of coaching staffs and FO personnel, but even in the 7-9 season a couple years ago, it didn't matter because the QB play was horrible. I'm not advocating that they let him go without insurance at the position. Fuck, I've seen what happens to young QBs with no blind side protection.
>>
>>66980536
Fuck what if it IS Oakland that gets him? The Raiders suddenly look elite as fuck. Only thing that can stop them is Jack "Keep Choppin Wood" Del Rio as their head coach.
>>
>>66980540
>they're still losing with him, so they better get rid of him

Yeah and the Texans should've traded JJ Watt when they went 2-14. Fuck outta here.
>>
>>66980536
Cleveland has the money, but it wouldn't make sense for them to pull the trigger.
They just let a bunch of their vets walk to FA, signing an older player now would just be head scratching.
>>
>>66980540
They shouldn't let him go at all, if you do all you're saying about your franchise is that it's a lost cause and not on the level of other teams. If ever a professional sports team needed an image overhaul it's the Browns and keeping JT can at the very least start that
>>
>>66978985
That's because everyone left and the only ones left are those who can't leave
>>
>>66980504

>>
>>66980581
>Reggie Nelson
>Josh Norman
>David Amerson
>Sean Smith
>Khalil Mack
>Bruce Irvin

Finish it up by drafting Reggie Ragland or Sheldon Rankins at 14 and you have yourself a playoff caliber defence at the very least
>>
>>66980601
The justification would have to be they give him a short contract and acknowledge he's a a level above Dansby and Whitner. I'd be shocked if they actually made a live for him though
>>
>>66980601
Unless Depodesta thinks Norman is more than a one year fluke, it's not happening.
>>
>>66980587
The Texans have made the playoffs at least.
>>
>>66980675
A short contract would cost a lot, and I just don't see the FO wasting their money like that. They know the team i going to be shit and they'd rather bring up young talent than trying to squeeze the last bits of blood out of an old stone.

It's not about who has the better team, it's about the match up. The Eagles have no firepower on offense and that helps the Browns stay in games. Then we compare special teams and the Browns have the edge there so for those reasons it doesn't feel absurd to pick the Browns. I picked the Browns over the Broncos last season for the same exact reasons and they were 10 yards away from pulling that one off because the match up is more important. The Eagles will likely have a better season than the Browns though

Every aspect of eagles ST is rock solid
Blocking technique, coaching solid tackling, defending kicks/punt returns, attacking kickers and punters, taking kicks back for 6
The eagles had enough offense this year to win 7 games and didn't lose anybody, gained a solid guard and lost demememy murray
While we miss out on the draft to get a good juciy rb and we 1 and 2, we still have talent at offense

The eagles ST singlehandedly wins games the defenses will be the only shining light of this team and I don't think browns have the offensive talent to get passed Jim Schwartz D with this D line and Linebackers

I am a Penn State fan and I am mortally terrified about where Hackenberg ends up, especially if it's not a team with a decent O-line or coach that understands what a quarterback needs.
Would the Patriots draft a backup QB? Where else would there be a system for him to work within? He has such great potential and if he's dicking around with shit coaches like James Franklin was compared to Bill O'Brien, then Hack will never have the career he's dreamed of. It makes me a little sad.

Why do people think the Browns won this trade? They're just going get busts again. Remember the last time they've had two first round picks in a draft, or all 4 times? In those situations, they've nabbed:

>2007
Joe Thomas
Brady Quinn

>2012
Trent Richardson
Old Man Weedle

>2014
Justin Gilbert
>JUST Manziel

>2015
Danny Shelton
Cameron Erving

Only Thomas was a good pick. I guess the jury's still out on Shelton and Erving. The rest were huge fucking busts, and they're going to fuck this up again next year
>>
>>66983653
Different FO / coaching staff. If this was Farmer or Holmgren picking again I'd agree with you, but we have yet to see.
>>
>>66983615
>they're busts
That usually depends on the system in which their thrusted into. E.g. Bradford in Rams, Manziel in Browns, Goff in Rams eventually.
I think Wentz will do alright with the Eagles but man giving up a future first and second to move up 6 spots was stupid as fuck.
>>
>>66983517
Fuck this meme. No running back is worth a Top 5 pick. It's not 1973 any more.

>>
>>66983685
Adrian Peterson was worth a #7 though.
>>
>>66983679
Titans and browns made off like kings this year. Eagles and rams just killed their future for matt cassels.
Bucs might trade up for bosa or ramsey. I can see them jumping to maybe 4 or 7 from 9. Trade glennon away, with a couple other picks. Totally worth it tho because aside from bosa and ramsey everyone in this draft is sorta just not a good fit for bucs.

Trading down was definitely the right move, the issue is that they're still the browns. Cleveland has far and away the worst track record in the league when it comes to developing their draft picks. They could be given the number one-five overall picks for the next twenty years and I'm confident their franchise would still be utter shit.

>how it feels to be a Panthers fan

Honestly not that bad. Gettleberg knows what he's doing. Remember when Steve Smith was put out on his ass? Remember when DeAngelo Williams was kicked to the curb?

Gettleberg does not play games. Those guys didn't even do anything like try to hold out on a contract and got released for costing too much money. Now you've got this guy in Norman, wants $16 million after 1 good year, holding out and missing training camps (reportedly), and when you franchise tag him he won't even sign that? Even though it was still what, 13M or something like that?

Fuck that guy. Remember they still have Rolando McClain and Cortland Finnegan who if I recall were very solid additions. Plus, Bene Benwikere is a legit #1 cornerback and I think is due for a breakout year himself. They'll be good enough for half the price with that front 7.
