It was a done deal in January, van Gaal has been on his way out since November. Everyone knows it. Even van Gaal who has been talking to the Dutch FA about a non-coaching job with the higher-ups of the Dutch national team and Dutch leagues.
It won't be confirmed until van Gaal is officially sacked which will be at the end of the season, maybe after the FA cup final (should he make it). Mourinho will take over in July because his contract situation at Chelsea prohibits him from taking over a PL job until that date. (Most contracts in football start in July).
