If there were some smart clubs out there, they could go full moneyball on other stats, things like speed of play the ball, or total metres carried, or metres made after hitting the line, or number times a player was running support, or number of times they ran the decoy.
Most clubs would be either to dumb or too culturally resistant to try it though

Simply tracking stats/data isn't just what was refering too. It was about identifying undervalued players through the use of non traditional stats and building the club around them.
