New to NBA. What is the reason behind some fouls leading to one free throw while others lead to two? Based off what I saw it seemed like you get one free throw if you make the shot after the foul and two free throws if you dont make the shot after the foul. Is this correct? Also whats the difference between a shooting foul and a blocking foul?

If you make the shot while getting fouled in a shooting motion you get an "and-one" free shot. Shooting foul is when you get fouled while in the shooting motion, which you get two shots for. Blocking foul is when you impede the ballhandler's motion (probably not the right word) with illegal defense.
