What? Ohio state is not your rival. Fuck off you clingy child. We are only rivals with Michigan, and vice versa.

You shouldn't have beat Michigan. We destroyed Michigan. We played a historically bad game and poor playcalling allowed you to have a fluke win and beat us on a field goal.

Other examples of HOW FUCKING LUCKY sparty has been all year? Rutgers spiking on fourth? Almost losing to fucking purdue? Indiana keeping it close?

Ohio State is objectively a better team and you know it shitposters. Academically, we're superior too.

Have fun getting btfo by Iowa and tOSU sneaking into that fourth spot.

post yfw bama wins the natty in the most boring way imaginable.

Me? I'm going to be loving every laugh. I love having a team that is mechanically boring to play against. Your team doesn't need to be interesting for you to be interested in them. Everything they do is naturally interesting, because that's what fandom is. Meanwhile, everyone else is fucking miserable, and that makes it great.

Enjoy the playoffs (you only get one enjoyable game heathens), and roll tide!

Good one in the Sun Bowl so far
>>
>>64077772
The actual game could be a blowout for either team, depends who shows up.
>>
>>64076673
Did Michigan need to beat them by 60 to show that they were the better team? What?

I'm not a Michigan fan, but the committee chooses who goes and who does not go to the playoffs, and the fact that they have NW over Michigan is concerning. It shows they don't care about the actual games being played. Sam goes for NW and Stanford, both two loss teams. Obviously when comparing two teams with the same record, the one that won decisively in their matchup should be higher.

Michigan > Northwestern > Stanford > Notre Dame is a logically valid order.

Instead, the committee went with Stanford > Northwestern > Michigan, the exact opposite of what happened on the field.

Stacking is literally the only logical thing there is. No I'm not saying rank Nebraska ahead of Michigan State, but if you're comparing two teams with similar records it can't be ignored. The ONLY reason Michigan has three losses is because they played #3 MSU and #7 OSU. To rank them lower than a team they BTFO is to punish teams for playing challenging schedules.

Michigan beat a team better than anyone Stanford has played, Northwestern.

Nebraska and Texas both have 7 losses. The head to head gives them some edge, but certainly not enough to overcome 7 losses.

Stanford and Northwestern both have two losses. Northwestern's came to teams (that should be) ranked higher than them. Stanford's came to a team ranked lower than them and to Northwestern themselves.

While we're at it, Oklahoma State beat TCU 49-29. They have the same record and played essentially the same schedule. Putting the one that won by 3 touchdowns behind the won that lost by 3 touchdowns is incredibly illogical.

Michigan fan as well, and I pretty much disagree. I still think Michigan would win, but the committee pretty much has to go by who is good right now, and not 6 weeks ago. NU is 10-2 and on a winning streak, Michigan lost our only real NT, the run defense went to shit, we can't run the ball on offense, and we just got btfo. I'd rank Michigan one spot over NU still because I know better than to think they'd be able to keep up with UM even in current conditions, but it's not a travesty. And there's no way Northwestern or Michigan should be ranked over Stanford or Notre Dame.

In order from most to least:
1. Oklahoma. I've always liked Oklahoma in general, and Stoops seems like a pretty good dude.
2. Clemson. Them winning wouldn't bother me one bit, but I find Dabo to be kind of annoying and they're a bit of a meme team.
3. Bama. This muh SEC dominance shit is just starting to calm down and Bama winning a natty would ratchet it right back up to 100. Nobody wants to deal with that.
4. Sparty. I used to be able to be happy for them when they won, and I'd like to again, but their fans make sure that they use every ounce of MSU success or Michigan misfortune to its maximum potential for gloating and I'd basically have to avoid the internet and many acquaintances for a long time. Their coach and players also cry about not getting enough respect and then they do trashy shit like taunting fans and whatnot, which all just culminates into them being a generally douchey team.

Your argument focused ENTIRELY on who beat who BUT if you take into account other things like strength of schedule (like everyone else with a brain) then your argument falls apart. THEN you changed it. They have similar records...so what? One played a much harder schedule. Northwestern beat Stanford at the beginning of the year, and then Stanford finished the year by beating many many more good teams than Northwestern, and won a conference to boot.
TCU is better than Oklahoma State because they played a tougher schedule and beat better teams all while missing half its starters. If you actual watched the game you'll see that TCU outgained Oklahoma State considerably, but Boykin threw a couple interceptions in the red zone.
Speaking of being childish, only children and idiots think in absolutes.

>He sat out because its a big 12 rule that transfers within the big 12 have to sit out a year.
NCAA rule for intraconference transfers, not Big 12 rule, and the school from which an athlete is transferring can release them. Kingsbury declined to release Mayfield because Mayfield had a scholarship waiting for the fall. There wasn't one available to give him for the spring semester and Mayfield knew it going in. If he'd stayed at Tech he would have been on scholarship that fall and this would be his third year as a starter instead of his second. He chose OU over other schools to which he had been released because he was an OU fan from high school years. Don't know why he didn't walk on there in the first place.

Yeah, I agree, it really isn't a fun rivalry at all. For you guys it's more like a blood feud with someone who killed your whole family, and for us it's like a psycho ex stalking us. Yes and no. He played in an era where defenders could anally rape receivers with the ball in the air and his job was much different than a quarterback's job today. Stats from that era will be deceiving if you don't know the rule differences. That said, he wasn't great, but he was a winner. He had something, just not something statistically useful.

The NCAA rule isn't mandatory, its up to the school that had him first. It just so happens that the Big 12 doesn't allow that, he must sit out a year.
>>
>>64080037
this is legit tbqh
>>
>>64080057
Kingsbury could have released him and didn't. It's the NCAA rule that lays the foundation for that. Big 12 rule reinforces it, though. Either way, he'd have been on scholarship at TTU a year earlier but left for OU because it would be easier to win a starting job over Knight than over Webb and Mahomes.
>>
Been looking into the Hawk tackling technique because our D coordinator talked it up and up.

Isn't that how most people tackle? I always tried to hit a RB in the hip and scoop his legs if I could and if I couldn't do that because of an angle, I would grab his hip and roll or try to slide down to his ankle and roll. This is basically just teaching your whole team to tackle like a defensive back.

>>
>>64080170
I'd have preferred the 3 and 4 teams be flipped so we'd have more contrasting playing styles for all three games, but it was not to be. As to the revenge factor, playing for the natty is probably sufficient motivation.

I was at outside backer for a bit until they realized I wasn't going to get much bigger than ~205 so I got moved to safety. Played corner before I hit my growth spurt and was like 150, maybe getting run over so much tainted my experience and by the time I played safety, I could hold my own.
>>
>>64080291
Yep. Center/Mike LB combo in a mostly run offense against mostly run teams. Literally just banging heads every play for 60 minutes.

I'll probably become senile a few years earlier because of it but I think it was worth it.

High school football in the 1980s was all I-formation or wing-T and 4-3 or 3-4, depending on personnel. Our corners ran back and forth all day, safeties covered tight end and flanker, outside LBs covered running backs. I just smashed the center or fullback all day.

USC will never be relevant again. Dumping Carroll was a horrible mistake.

On the other hand, Oregon is going downhill next year. While many don't realize how strong the team is now that the qb's hand is no longer broken, they're losing too many elements next season to be a contender again.

(for those of you that missed it, MSU only won against us very narrowly and our qb's hand was quite broken)
>>
>>64080742
Depends on if you consider there to be 6 or 8 bluebloods. Since the gap between the top 8 and everyone else is so big, I consider it to be 8 because everyone knows the top 8, the order can be debated but not the fact that they are in fact the top 8.

In terms of what HAS happened Tennessee and Penn State are the closest. In terms of what WILL happen I think FSU and depending on the Richt hire Miami have the best chance of *eventually* becoming bluebloods

They have a chance, but they never came close to FSU/the U's level of dominance. And since that wasn't so long ago, if FSU keeps in the national picture and Miami gets back into it and they both stay for a while, I think in 20 years people forget about the decade in the 2000s and once the boomers/generation x start dying out they'd be considered bluebloods. That's of course a big hypothetical.

Blue Bloods.png

We Blue Bloods are on another realm of existence, another tier of competition.

We Blue Bloods stand for each other, yes rivalries are strong between many, but we know that deep down, we all need each other, for when one falls, one more meme rises.

For every Michigan that falls, a Michigan State or Clemson rises. For every Nebraska and Texas failure, comes another TCU, Oregon, or Boise State.

We Blue Bloods are more than just the elite, we are the defenders, the defenders against the memes that can slaughter the integrity of College Football.

We Blue Bloods are bound by the destruction of the memes

We Blue Bloods therefore must root for an OU/Bama final this year, this sport can't take another Clemson or Michigan State. The great federation of the Blue Bloods will never fall to the memes, however the memes will never die, it is our job to kill them before they can't get to a level where they consider themselves "relevant".

Of course as Blue Bloods we recognize that the memes will NEVER reach our status, however a meme that has memed too long is cancer to our sport in which WE Blue Bloods have built with our bare hands.

We Blue Bloods will never die

We Blue Bloods will always fight

We Blue Bloods will always stand for one another in the end

Yeah, I actually moved them down as that was the general consensus. I posted the old version accidentally. Here's the very slightly changed new version
>Stanford under Clemson
Not sure why you specifically target Stanford of all the single-championship teams, but Clemson is just much better from a wins perspective
>Illinois over BYU
Illinois has 5 national championships
>South Carolina under NC State
Possible. I used to say this when I posted them but I threw together bottom few tiers very quickly and figured people who knew more about those programs history would sort it out
>OkSU that low
Ok-St was literal shit outside of Barry
>Purdue that high
They used to have a football program
>Duke not in literal shit
>Vandy and Tulane not in literal shit
i don't think you understand how bad the literal shit tier is in a historical context. All the teams in it were well below .300 win ratio against P5 teams, all teams in the next lowest were mid 30s to low 40s. Literal Shit was actually a conveniently easy tier to make, the bottom 8 were so bad it was fucking funny.
>>
>>64080908
what do the Powerhouses have to do to become blueblood? What does a blueblood have to do to move down to powerhouse?
>>
>>64081055
Tennessee has to win another championship and have sustained success (10+ win seasons, conference championships) for a little while, Penn State would have to do the same for a little longer. LSU, FSU, and Florida simply need another to do what they've been doing for the better part of 25 of the next years or so (get 2 or so each). Miami needs to get another NC, and sustain success, which they haven't been doing. Georgia and Auburn need to sustain something that resembles contenders for the better part of 40 years and win a couple NC's each.
>>
>>64081055
>>64081112
also they need to be near the .700 club
>>
>>64081055
Coming from someone who is literally just a guy and doesn't really know more about it than anyone else;

I honestly don't think a program can "become a blueblood" in someone's lifetime. Barring a completely unbelievable period of dominance (10 natties in 25 years or something), I probably will die believing those same 8 schools are the only bluebloods. Being a blueblood sort of transcends across generations, you sort of grow up hearing so and so is a blueblood from your dad or Lee Corso or whoever and then that's just sort of the way it is. For example, there was no way in hell our grandparents considered Texas or Nebraska a blueblood, but our fathers do and most people in our generation do. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

As for losing your status, that's not as difficult. The .700 club is a somewhat good indicator of blueblood-ness. Nebraska just dipped to .699 for the first time this season, which is coincidentally when everyone starts saying Nebraska is losing their status. I say if a program falls below .700 and finishes below that mark for 5 seasons they probably lose their status, but that's just my opinion. Another anon put it this way: in the 90s everyone knew aOSU and Bama would be back. In the late 2000/early 2010s everyone knew Michigan would be back. Everyone knows Texas will be back. But Nebraska? I think they have a better resume than Texas for being a blueblood, but they're at such a strong geographical disadvantage I don't know if they'll ever come back to the same level of dominance.
>>
>All this talk of bluebloods
>No mention of one of the original bluebloods

Just learned something interesting about them. CFB HoF'er Henry Seibels was the team's MVP and scored a then-record 19 TDs. Seibels told his sons that the 1899 team's best player was Ormond Simkins. Here's the intersting part:
Ormond Simkins is the son of a William Stewart Simkins, aka the guy who fired the shot that started the fucking Civil War. How can one family be so based?
>>
>>64081055
teams like Penn State, Tennessee, LSU, FSU, Georgia, etc. need a run like Alabama is currently on now but sustain it for like 10 years or one like Nebraska when they went back to back in the late 90s. A team like Notre Dame would probably need something like the SMU death penalty to lose blueblood status. Alabama would need Saban to leave and enter the wilderness of never finding a replacement. Nebraska is closest to losing blueblood status because they haven't done shit in about 20 years and it's getting to where in CFB you need to be located in a recruiting hotbead or you're going to struggle so they need to get back into the playoff mix if they want to keep it. I say if Nebraska continues how they are for another 8+ seasons they should lose it.

Troy Smith was a proto-meme qb. He was great at running but preferred throwing. The fore-runner to RGIII, Manziel, and Mariota. Look at how he got Jim Tressel to stop doing 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust and run 5 wide spread offense. TSmith was legit, and OSU had just finished an undefeated season, starting by beating defending champ Texas and finishing by ruining scUM's perfect season (putting up 42 points on their #1 defense to do it). Smith got like 90% of the 1st place votes too so it wasn't controversial at all that he won.

they might've been on the verge by the late 90s/early 2000s but the last decade or so has set them way back. they're still ahead of FSU as far as prestige though not as much as they used to be.

No. Jabrill is our best known player but Jourdan Lewis is the best, and it's not even all that close.
>Jourdan Lewis owns the top cornerback grade. Opposing quarterbacks have a rating of 36.1 when targeting Lewis.
He held a projected first round pick in Michael Thomas to two catches, one being a curl route that is literally designed to be a 95% completion and the other was pick related where Thomas just made a great play and Jourdan Lewis was on him before Thomas even fully secure the catch - not much any CB in the nation could've done.

Literally the only knock you could make on Lewis is that he only has 2 ints (1 being a pick 6) but I'd gladly take having the best statistical season in coverage than a few more picks.

>>64082615
If you looked at the All B1G team then you'd see Jourdan Lewis was first team. And I agree, Bell got snubbed. Should've been gotten in over Likely.

So it's obvious that 1 or 2 things are true from my casual perspective

1. Texas A&M are fraud pussies that lied about not wanting to play the Texas Bowl bc they already played in houston for their season opener. Then proceed to schedule their bowl in nashville where they just played like a month ago

2. The SEC is scheduling their teams where they can win the most games. Texas Tech's run defense is notoriously weak so LSU is a terrible matchup for them

so 1/2/or both???

This year is very regionally divided.

You have

>Southwest/Texas
Mayfield

>pac coast
MaCaffery

>East Coast
Watson

>South
Henry

>Midwest
Elliot

I think Watson would win on vote number becuase McCaffery can't take enough Midwest votes. Who will be split on Zeke, Baker, and Henry as well.

But journalists love Saban's D. So it should be really close this year
>>
>>64077477
>o-line babby

I know its usually a safe assumption that Alabama perennially has a god-tier O-line, but this year's is the absolute worst since Saban has been here. I mean horrible. Were near the worst in the country at giving up tackles for loss. Injuries all year. Coker running for his retarded life. Derrick Henry is not an O-line babby. Dudes a fucking beast. He singlehandedly carried that shit offense to the playoffs.

I would agree, though, that Mark Ingram was carried by an elite offensive line.
>>
>>64093478

A 5-9 200 lber will need a line a lot more than a 6-3 250lb monster.

>>
>>64093550
>he's big so he sucks
>he gets a lot of carries so he sucks

What difference does it make how many carries he gets? He averaged 5.9 ypc which is legit as fuck. And he broke Hershel Walker's record with less carries. 23 touchdowns. He had an amazing season and carried that offense.

And since when is getting a lot of carries a bad thing as long as the ypc is high? He's a workhorse. He carried it over 40 times each of the last two weeks. Again, he's a fucking beast.

And that brings me to the size thing. What right does he have being that fast at that size? It's ridiculous. He's not the quickest off the snap but when he gets going I've seen him outrun DBs and make them look whiteboy-slow. He's 6'3" 245 and runs a 4.38.

RGIII was a system babby who played in the Big No-Defense Conference.

Jameis was a winner who came through in clutch time after time and went like 27-1 or something. And his FSU team destroyed people all year and set the per-game scoring record.
Meanwhile Mariota played on a meme team in the Pac-12 and I swear every time I watched him he just threw to guys that were wide open because of teams being confused by tempo. Against OSU when there was actual discipline he made terrible throws and couldn't get it done.

And as for Troy Smith, he was the landslide winner his year. You saw what he did to Michigan :^)

-recruiting system is better. its points based. to get more points u unlock coach skills by doing achievements.
-dont really like the new sprint mechanic it doesnt work right. as soon as you use it then it always feels like the defense uses theirs at the same time.
-the option was overhauled so much its very good. kinda overpowered.
-there is no advantage to using a 230 pound RB who can truck people verses a 188 pound RB with speed. the 230 pound one will always suck because its impossible to run how you want him to its better to just get all speed players. totally the opposite in real life.
-theres an editor on operationsports.com u can download and use if you have a usb stick that allows you to add a playoff (4 teams, 6 teams, 8 teams and up) are all supported i believe. u can control everyone's schedule with this too. it allows for duplicate numbers. you can do a lot of shit with this but it takes dedication to manage. if you dont like getting hands dirty with constantly switching over to computer and usb to manage the dynasty then dont do it.
-the crowd is garbage. sounds like a tin can. ncaa football 2004 had amazing crowd sound.
-recruiting is so fun imo that i have a dedicated recruiting dynasty

cant think of anymore atm senpai will add more if i think of them
