So I signed up for Fight Pass a while back and kept it for a couple of months. I thought it was cool, but not quite ready for prime time.
Today I said what the hell, I'm gonna give them 10 bucks and check it out again. I was surprised by how much shit is on there. Holy fuck!
The first thing I noticed is that all the OLD UFC events are available. It was my understanding Zuffa didn't actually own the rights to the SEG-era stuff and they were held by some other company. Either I misunderstood that or they acquired the rights at some point in the relatively recent past. In either case, if I want to go back and watch Steve Jennum win UFC 3, I can easily do that now and that's cool.
It's also pretty cool that they have a huge library of Pride, Strikeforce, EliteXC, WEC and Invicta stuff. But I was surprised to find that they also have a lot of events from lesser known orgs, including a few I've never even heard of. (BRACE MMA? What the fuck is that?!)
I also think all the "collections" are cool. If I want to watch a bunch of BJ Penn shit, it's all right there in one spot.
And then there's all the UFC original content like TUF and Ultimate Insider.
Etc etc. I'm not going to break down every feature but it's a lot of shit and I'm pleased with how they've built their product. $10 actually sounds like a decent deal now.
There are a few things that I would like to see, though. Since they're open to featuring other organizations' content, I'd like to see more stuff that's not specific to MMA. How about karate tournaments, BJJ/Judo tournaments, kickboxing events, taekwondo competitions? That would be cool.
And even though it's not going to happen--at least not any time soon--it would be awesome if ALL the events were available live on Fight Pass, including all the TV stuff and PPVs.
Anyway. . . Fight Pass is cool now. Anyone else been using it regularly? What do you think?
