With just two weeks left of the league phase, the Betway Premier League circus rolls on to Manchester and four players are battling it out to earn a playoff place at the O2 in a fortnight.
Kicking off the evening are the two outsiders in James Wade and Peter Wright: a win for either player eliminates the other. With Clownman defeating Philth last week, expect him to go in as the favourite after Med Man was pulverised by MVG last week. Both suffered surprise defeats at the Players Champs last weekend, with the multicoloured knob losing to Gerwyn Price in Sunday's final with the bipolar one defeated by emerging youngster Josh Payne in Saturday's final.
The last actual Scottish derby of the season follows as reigning PL champion Gary Anderson faces reigning GP champion Robert Thornton. Gando only has to avoid defeat to make it to the O2, and with Rabbie having failed to win on all but one occasion since Judgement Night, it'll be a shock if the gameraiser hasn't qualified by the end of the night.
The Stoke derby is next with Adrian Lewis up against Phil Taylor. The Fat Man requires a win to seal his playoff place, but could advance with a draw if Wade-Wright is also a draw. However, with the Groper knocked off the top of the PL last Thursday, he will be eager to go back to #1. With Snackpot's ability to roll over for his lord and master as predictable as it is, this could see him stupidly sacrifice his chance of a first playoff place in five years.
A match that would have been more suited to next week in Rotterdam closes the evening with Michael van Gerwen battling Raymond van Barneveld. As evidenced by the 6-6 draw earlier in the year, the Green Machine is the only person Barney actually bothers to play against so he can still claim to be the Dutch darting daddy. After going back to the top for the first time in a long while, you can be assured van Gerwen will try to make that top spot his own once again.

they're going to be wary of that approach, given how many of the big clubs have spunked a fortune on big european names and not really improved. the fact that they won it with a starting XI of lesser known rejects helps.
they don't have any illusions and the target set by the chairman remains the same; consolidate a place in the premier league and work towards becoming a european league competing team within the next few years.
