Yeah, the national focus issue is a pretty big one, and I still barely understand how making peace works. The AI does fuck up a lot, and kind of sucks at playing. I managed to invade Germany in 1940 playing as Britain and completely wrecked their shit in a couple years.
I've mostly been playing as various allied countries, my mom complete playthrough was as Britain. Destroyed Germany as I mentioned, then nuked Japan 20+ times without them giving a fuck before launching an enormous amphibious assault. France can be fun too, I like recreating the little Entente and screwing up Germany's plans. I also have a playthrough going as Germany, I managed to convert all of Eastern Europe to fascism without firing a single shot, and am getting ready to purge the world of Bolshevik scum. France can wait.
