I've noticed with a lot of yandere girls, they aren't very self-suffiecent and just in general seek attention and look to be the damsel in distress so someone can swoop in and shit. That whole thing isn't very yandere, it's just... a shitty emo scene I guess is the best way to put it.
It's actually kind of a turn off talking to a majority of these girls, they present you with problems and you just say "well do something about it." and all you get is wall of excuses for not fixing the problem, and are just secretly waiting for the "hold on madame, let me come to the rescue and tell you how I'd do everything for you."
And even if the problem isn't fixable, like lets say shits fucked and there is nothing to do, it won't stop them from bitching about it at length to get that type of attention that thirsty people give. That's just the way this thing goes, life sucks and everything is fucked, but listening to someone bitch about things all the time isn't fun.
tl;dr most girls aren't even yandere, they are just emo chicks who are unstable as fuck, and want the attention of a "yandere" but in this case are just thirsty fuckers who are trying way too hard but that's what they like and want.

It's a long story, but her and I knew each other since 7th grade. Around 9th grade we started flirting really hard and started going out. Social influence is a resource. As a guy I've been in several situations where I let down a girl in a more complicated way to conserve that "resource."

Reading the first time through this seems like a ridiculous situation, but I guess I can relate to the cognitive dissonance in retrospect. The first girl I was attracted to moved away very suddenly when I was in school, and I hadn't resolved much. Even though I didn't feel obsessive about her, the subject of her for a while threw me off my game quite a bit. Whenever it felt I was forgetting about her, I would start dreaming about her. It was intensely frustrating, and because I felt very strict about conducting my relationships, I blew off a few girls in the following years. It seemed dishonest to be dating others when I felt this conflicted.
I did eventually progress though. I think you kind of have to force yourself to *act* against these kinds of ghosts, not just argue about it in your head. Try to meet new people as much as you can.
