Long story short, life was (and still sort of is) shitty for me. Poor as fuck (still), shitty childhood, abusive stepfathers, the whole nine yards of becoming a maladjusted fuck.
Then something changed in middle school. I met a guy on the internet through a common interest. I talked to him and initially, our entire friendship was based on that common interest. Then we started talking more, the subject of school arose, and somehow by 8th grade he and I formulated this elaborate plan for me to succeed in high school. Taking AP classes, applying for this scholarship he was applying for, and getting accepted to a top ranking, private school. I didn't want to be poor anymore - I wanted to live the good life and be successful.
Initially high school was successful but by the time junior year rolled along, I noticed I began to have trouble with the math in school. Through my friend, I began learning about just how smart some people can get, especially at top universities. And holy shit was I a complete, incompetent piece of shit compared to these people. So I decided to step it up - maybe if I worked as hard as possible I could succeed.
It's been two years since and through those two years I've fucking tortured myself. I've spent days at a time studying and working, guzzling 88 cent energy shots from Walmart to balance surviving my shit job to support my family and keeping my grades and test scores up.

And now, at the end of my senior year, I've achieved the desired result. Passed all AP exams so far, scored well enough on the SAT and ACT, and I was accepted to a top university on full scholarship.
But I've realized something.
I've hit an intellectual roadblock. I'm simply not as intelligent as some of these people I'll be around at this university. I'm pathetic enough to struggle in fucking basic calculus. I've had to spend hours working as hard as possible to grasp concepts. In the past two years, I've destroyed my health. I'm 6'0 and only weigh 125 pounds. I have fucking heart palpitations at 18. I'm dizzy almost every time I stand up. I don't even have the energy to properly converse with people anymore let alone the social skills. I'm so burnt out I'm thinking of just ending it. Every morning I wake up to continue the same monotonous shit. I don't enjoy anything anymore. I'm constantly depressed. I honestly wonder if I've driven myself to insanity.
When I go to university, I'm going to be around extremely elite people - most of them rich and far more intelligent than me. And I won't be able to stack up to these people. It sounds like your main issue is simply physical energy. You need to be eating better (energy shots are poison for your system, they'll destroy your dopamine "reward" system which is key to learning).
I think you're over-estimating the intelligence of these other people. If you've got this far, I think you should try your best to go. Assuming you get your energy levels under control, the worst thing that can happen to you is you don't make any friends but still get a degree from an elite uni, right? That in itself is valuable. There's a possibility that you could make a friend or two, people who might be a similar situation to you. What uni could you possibly be going to that's elite but doesn't' have non-elite people? Most elite unis admit non-elites in quotas as a form of charity.
It sounds like just like you had a friend who planned our this system of getting qualified to go to an elite uni, you need to develop a plan for dealing with your energy levels and recuperation, so you don't destroy yourself.

It depends really, but Harvard is still above Yale on the whole. Yes, Ivy Leagues have major grade inflation to benefit the future careers of their graduates, but you have "dumb" people everywhere even at elite institutions. For example, guys who went to UPenn or Dartmouth that are just regular middle-aged office workers. A class Harvard is famous for is Math 55. Just search it up.

Who are you to be able to promise something like that? Sometimes it just wont get better. You know what I do for a living? I am an illusionist. I am not the kind of magician who does little tricks at local bar and grills and then title myself an "illusionist" because it sounds better. I actually design illusions on a grand scale. I have worked with everyone from David Copperfield to Lance Burton and Jeff Mcbride. Now I visit about 44 hospitals a year. I entertain terminally ill children. I have, so far, watched 26 parents witness their child take their last breath. Im not trying to be a "Debbie downer". But I do think people hear this sad music and it almost forces their brains to conjure up ideals of a sympathetic yet, foolish nature of love vs. karma. The problem is that love is a chemical, and karma does not exist. There is no proof of god and I can assure you magic & ghosts do not exist. This is a harsh, un-biased world in which we live and to "make" things eventually get better, the WORST thing ANY one can do is "wait" for it to get better.
DO NOT wait for things to get better people. MAKE them get better, and expect hell to follow if you don't. Throw fairy tales out the window. Use logic and common sense. Music has a talent for turning us into nonsensical bull shitters.

You've got to realize that the gap between you and them is almost insignificant compared to the gap between where you are now and where you've started.
You should try to eat better as some anons have said. If you are having problems with information retention and are having to study more as a result to hold things in, I would recommend switching up your study habits too. I'd recommend studying for like an hour, hour and a half max until you feel yourself "slow down" or lose pace then take a 20-30 minute break to reset, then sitting down to study again if you aren't feeling fried. One long chunk of studying was consistently counterproductive for me.
