I just had an incredibly distressing flashback.
When the news came out about MSN messenger closing down in 2014, I logged back on for nostalgia's sake.
Obviously some other people from my secondary school had the same idea, including the qt girl that sat next to me in maths for 3 years (alphabetical order seating). We hadn't been best friends or anything, but after 3 years we knew each other fairly well, and it made maths more enjoyable.
She started speaking to me, asking how I was doing, what was I up to (wuu2?) and all that stuff. I jumped right into an incredibly detailed and autistic explanation of lucid dreaming, and how great it was because I could be happy in my dreams, unlike real life.
This didn't bother her at all, she actually seemed genuinely interested and said she really missed talking to me because I always had such interesting things to say. She sent me her phone number (which I ignored since I didn't have a mobile at that time) and said she'd love to meet up and go to the cinema or something.
After we'd finished talking I logged off MSN and never gave it a second thought. But it's just hit me now; that was the only time in my entire life that a female has flirted with me or given me any kind of positive attention.
It set me to thinking about how different my life would've been if I had friends or a gf. Maybe I wouldn't be a depressed neet with no future, wishing I was brave or desperate enough to end it all.
Then I realise that I'm getting even more depressed because of what could've happened with a girl from secondary school, which was 9 years ago. The whole thing is incredibly pathetic.

Many times people will get in and say they will commit x hours and work on x time but they never show up or come in late. They say 'but it's for free, I can come in whenever right?' It's free but it fucks shit up when people SAY they will work at x time but on the day feel like they need a lie in and show up 4 hours later, when someone else is doing their time anyway.
The application process is designed to get only people who are serous applying to it. People who will commit to what they say they will. We don't care if you want to volunteer small hours fine, but at least stick to them. Don't fuck the shops over by not turning up for your time. I don't fully agree with the application process, but it helps.
