Not all of them. I used to volunteer in a school in an area like that and some of the kids tried really hard but were severely disadvantaged by their circumstances, like their parents before them etc.
The teachers were disillusioned and didnt care enough to properly teach the kids, loads of the kids hadnt been taught basic reading skills by their parents, they came to school underfed (affects concentration, bad nutrition that leads to them being ill and missing school), worried about problems at home, and not taught to be disciplined by parents to they dont know to behave.
Those areas also have shit employment, there are barely any jobs available since mining collapsed, and they dont have the funds available to move somewhere with better employment to improve their prospects.
Im not saying that some people cant break the cycle, or that some of them arent there because of their own fault, but most of them have shit circumstances and the odds stacked against them

Go to a doctor, try and get panicky. Tell them that when you go outside you have panic attacks. Take someone with you if you can, because then you can say "I can't go out by myself" otherwise you'll have to say it takes you a lot of effort to work up the courage. Add a bunch of shit like being unable to sleep, social phobia, depression etc
They'll give you happy pills and a sick note (or you'll have to ask for one) to take into the job center. You'll need to revisit your doctor every couple of months to top up that sick note.
After a year or so (might have changed since I did it), you'll get your interview. This is the biggie and this determines which group you're in and takes a lot more bullshitting and lying to get through.

Started for the exact same reason as you lad exactly 2 months ago. Stopped a few days ago. To cut a long story short, no, cigarettes do not help with anxiety they actually had the opposite effect by the end.
Nicotine is a stimulant so your anxiety episodes will just get worse if you smoke during them. The first few times I smoked though I felt like the whole world was fantastic and all my problems could be solved. Didn't happen like that though.
Also it's a waste of money and life. Do exercise / lift heavy weights that genuinely does really help with anxiety and it's about 50x as productive.
