Or are you looking for more universal recognition of your accomplishments?

When I see older robots with this kind of mindset I want to shake the fuck out of them until they show some kind of emotion.
Here's the thing.
In the past, for 99.999% of the population "accomplishing" something meant basically staying alive long enough to have a family. An insignificant amount of people actually did something worthy of mention, like invented a branch of mathematics or wrote a classic piece of literature. Note that it was pretty damn easy as a man to start a family--basically you needed few social skills and often marriages were either arranged or initiated after barely any amount of effort. Once the marriage took place, it was exceedingly rare for it to end. So basically, the man's main purpose in life was finished as long as he kept putting food on the table.
Now, Western men look at the cost:benefit ratio of starting a family and are increasingly choosing to stay single. Because of that, the only avenue for accomplishment is becoming famous or creating something long-lasting. Again, this is extraordinarily unlikely for most of the population. But we simultaneously have a society that feeds the fantasy that "you can do anything you want if you have the willpower!" Leading those who DON'T get what they want to conclude that they are just failures who didn't try hard enough. Thus you have tons of lonely single men in their 20's and 30's who feel like their existence is pointless because they realize they will never live up to the standard Western fantasy.
It's possible to feel fulfilled without having made some kind of permanent mark in the form of spreading your genes or building a temple that lasts 1000 years. But this takes immense willpower in itself, as it requires rejection of society, in some cases intense pressure from others who don't like you stepping outside the norm.
Find something you want to do and do it, whether that's reading about philosophy or making a garden or tracking Beanie Baby price trends on a spreadsheet. Don't bother yourself with whether it's approved by others.
