There were churches all over the place and each church was like a little "gang" I guess you could say. As in everyone who went to that church knew each other and pretty much mainly socialised with people that went to that specific church. And the church would host loads of events. A lot of which would be normal social events to "reel in" kids and then they'd throw their Jesus portion into it.
