You have a Reddit problem. You have thousands of users with the mentality of "I want people to use MY thread."
That's why you have that many threads about the same thing.
Look at /pol/ for proof. It has different users and even though there's tens of thousands of posts about Donald Trump every day they still manage to have only 1 or 2 Trump General threads up at a time.
Same thing with /vg/. There's a shitton of generals and more often than not they have unofficial rules they stick to to keep threads going right. (only make a new thread when you hit page 8, etc.
A lot of boards have generals and you dont see complaints because they keep to themselves.
On top of that, the mods help out. They sticky threads and direct people to them when there's something big going on.
/tv/s mods do fuck all to help because they're too busy deleting opinions that they dont like.
