The file size limit on /f/ being knocked down to 9Mb is egregious,
Images are sometimes not shown due to bandwidth/network limitations. Refreshing the page usually helps.

The file size limit on /f/ being knocked down to 9Mb is egregious, not to mention the very little space on 4chan's servers it saves. Repeal this affront to /f/'s board culture.
>>
>>561599
You can't actually post on /f/, it's just a loop that repeats the same threads over and over.
>>
>>561599
I don't browse /f/ at all, but that is absolute fucking unnecessary bullshit. I support OP.

Delete /f/, it requires non-free software.

We need to block flashes from being posted on /f/ if they have sound in them. Otherwise people will use it to post screamers.

People are posting FLASH files with HIDDEN PICTURES in them

http://archive.4plebs.org/f/thread/3093118/#3093153
>Many times (as in this case) the sauce is given right beneath the flash. You just have to:
>1.Open the flash in a seperate tab (not embed it)
>2. Resize your browsers window to be really slim
>3. You will now see the Sauce given right under the flash
>4. You don't need to ask people to spoonfeed you anymore, when what you look for is right infront of you.

This could be easily abused to post CHILD PORNOGRAPHY and other NASTY THINGS

Please BLOCK FLASH from being posted until you find a way to DETECT and REMOVE these hidden pictures
>>
>>561599
Ten whole megabytes? You don't need to be posting entire anime episodes. This isn't Youtube or endchan, this is a Hawaiian rock-polishing board.
>>
Flash is just too dangerous for 4chan because it can contain embedded scripts.
>>
>>561689
How fucking retarded are you?
You know that's part of the flash itself right? Nothing is hidden or embedded within the .swf.
Do you think people who browse /f/ are incapable of reporting such instances of child pornography? I've been browsing the board for nearly two years now and I have never once encountered child porn or anything else illegal, even in the archives.
>>
>>561689
kek are you retarded?
>>
I don't get this at all. There are 30 flashes at a time up on /f/, meaning at most this would save 30mb of space if every flash posted was 10mb. I know /f/ isn't the most popular board, but don't just fuck with it for no reason.
>>
>>561599
That fucking jap. We need a 15 mb limit
>>
>>561694
Fuck off moron.
>>
>>561599
The 1 MB is reserved for advertising which will soon be added to flashes.

Is that why I got seemingly random errors on /f/ yesterday?
It didnt even give the "file too large" error, it gave some other random page that was white and had an error number like something was wrong with the site.

Changing the filesize on /f/ has got to be the most random and unnecessary change ever.

I'm pretty sure it's been 10MB since the board was made.

4chan's policy is to block hidden and embedded content. It is policy for good reason and will not be changed because of your infantile whining. Furthermore, these hidden images bloat the file size, and many users don't even know they're posting them. Maybe you don't care about wasting 4chan's bandwidth, but the site has to be protected from this sort of abuse.

BTW the policy is already implemented, but some bugs need to be worked out. That's why you're seeing some of these errors.

Are you stupid? Most of the time, the "sauce" is text that is outside of the window that is revieled by resizing. Only on rare occasions are there images there, and they usually also a reference to sauce material.

I have NEVER seen CP hidden in a flash file, and I have hundreds upon hundreds of them saved and also have a decompiler that I've used on many of them to get resources.

Fixed
>>
>>561753
These "hidden images" have never been anything more than text. All they have ever done is contain information about the flash itself.
The amount of room these things take up is small (a static line of text), especially in comparison to the rest of the flash data.

Also, what policy are you talking about? The only rule I can find is global rule #17 which only covers images.
If this policy is already implemented on flash files -which you claim- then why were you bitching and whining for the attention of a moderator to block .swf files until a solution is found?
How do you know these bugs are a result of this supposed implemented solution? Are you a developer for the site?

Just because it's never happened doesn't mean that it's not happening and a major problem. Images can be encoded as text too; look up uuencode. I'm sorry, but the hiding of images inside text inside Flash files must be stopped for the sake of the survival of 4chan.

A rule only added because of stupid newfags being retarded and sink cp. If it wasn't for the sink cp on /b/, no one would give two shits about the this and it and its code in the site should be removed.

I made a feedback thing a while ago, but this still hasn't been fixed: /news/ no longer has the 48 hour autosage, which just leaves shitpost and bait threads on the front page and sends better threads to the depths. Please fix this.
On a related note, please consider removing the 72 hour autosage from /qst/, or replace it with an autosage after 24 hours of no OP posting.

Thank you very much.
>>
>>562250
>autosage after 24 hours of no OP posting.
Don't OPs sometimes have to switch computers for one reason or another, forcing them to switch IPs? I get that people will play a quest as it falls down the board if they deem it fun enough, and that the board is slow enough that autosaged threads stay on for half a week, but it seems like a waste to have autosage based on how often the OP posts. I would rather the 72 hour sage be moved back to a 48 hour autosage like was proposed at the board's inception. It won't speed up the board any, but it will keep me from seeing crappy low quality quests from being bumped as the week goes on.
>>
>>562258
Good threads that get bumped die because of the autosage, too. My proposed substitution would kill abandoned threads, and most OPs don't switch computers, anyway, and if they do, they can usually get back to their computers before their thread dies.
Low quality threads exist on all boards, why would OPs keeping theirs up be more of a problem for /qst/ than for any other board?
72 is too little time, let alone 48.
I'm absolutely certain that most of /qst/'s QMs would agree with my solution.
>>
>>562262
Post it over there then. See what they want.

4chan needs to stop embarcing modern tech.

the appeal of 4chan has been its late '90s, early '00s design.

desu i vote for 4chan to:
- revert back to using exclusively jpg, png, and gifs
- stop using ajax and jquery
- revert back to using iframes
>>
>>562385
the appeal far out scoops one's opinion but i do know this more functions more appeal
>>
>>562385
/f/, /wsg/, /gif/, /hr/, Etc. should still be specialist boards, at least.
