>>

>>
>>561089
Yeah, I don't see users of Windows 7 and 8~8.1 going to need to update soon enough to care about that sort of thing. By the time they stop receiving support, Windows eleventyfour will be around the corner. There are even support packages for Visa still out there.
>>
>>561082
>Too stupid

Not everyone is completely computer literate or so cautious that they want to carefully look at every update to their PC when it doesn't affect their habits for one you pretentious fuck. For two, hiding an OS upgrade as a recommended update, making it impossible to stop the popups without editing the registry, and the only subsequent solution to stopping the imminent upgrade being to edit registry keys is forcing. Regardless of whether or not you turned off updates, it's a shitty corporate move and you should not support it.

>>561082
>It's a form of natural selection

And the basement you lock yourself up in isn't?
>>
>>561089
W XP got destroyed because people stopped programming on it and 2 huge fatal vulnerabilities that are easy to do got detected and hackers started to use them which allowed to install stuff on the computer till it gets destroyed.

Also ransomware.

W7 doesn't have this problem yet thanks to UAC and it wont for a while.

There is still W8.1 if something happens to it or time to force myself to linux.

1. natural selction.
2. you don't need to edit the registry to stop the OS from updating.

This isn't an argument. It's a pretentious buzzphrase for retards who need a false sense of superiority. You're not even clever for using it in this context, because it's completely irrelevant to the majority of computer users and their needs.

You don't need to be completely computer literate, you just need to be basic computer literary to stop it and be capable of using your fucking brain and stopping it. Anons are right, it is natural selection at work. If you aren't capable of stopping it, you are probably fucking stupid and don't even know how to use the computer at all. The filesize limit on /f/ was lowered from 10Mb to 9MB. This has made a lot of people upset and has been widely considered to be a bad move.
>>
>>561596
>1MB difference

Why even implement this?
>>
>>561596
It's a shame because a lot of good recent flashes have been made with the 10MB file size in mind and those flashes might as well be dead, no more 0x40 hues variants.
>>561597
>Why even implement this?
No idea, /f/ is a pretty slow board. Each flash lasts about 6 hours and there's 30 flashes at a time, that's 180 10MB (max) threads a day.
Compare that to other boards that have 150 threads with 300+ posts and images.
I doubt this is about saving bandwidth but I don't know what else would cause it.
>>
>>561596
Well that seems stupid. Hope things revert back.
Maybe they figured /f/ wasn't really going to kick up a major fuss about it, so they'd just try and save bandwidth there.

When a general becomes a circlejerk of spamming fan art and saying the same things over and over again, it becomes more like deviantart or reddit - a place for people to run out of things to talk about when nothing new related to the game is happening but they still want to have a thread up 24/7, and instead post cancerously. There is no "productive" discussion. There is NO discussion.

When Microsoft's Tay thing started kicking off a bit I thought this is what we'd be seeing in the future. Looks like they're already doing it, though they seem to be going about it a pretty stupid way. With the AI it'll be harder to tell bots from real people and all it takes is a fancy hashtag to get people interested these days.
They haven't even managed to do that here, how idiotic.

to add, /pol/ has been very aware of the shills are /pol/ has essentially allied with reddit's r/thedonald/ (i dont go there I dont know if thats the exact link) and is trying to post unfiltered news in the way reddit claims it does

basically, the news subreddit was filtering all posts about the terrorist attack in orlando because boohoo religion was involved so the trump subreddit basically became a news site and it claimed like 8 out of the top 10 reddit threads because they actually reported about it.

clinton is spending a lot of money on internet posters, I think I saw its over $1 million

A few things:
1. You're incredibly fucking stupid.
2. That isn't how statistics work.
3. Posts are tied to external IPs, meaning that if my IP resets and cookies are not present, I can make a 4 posts, 3 on 1 board and 1 on another and this would mean that 75% of my posts are logged into that specific board.
4. You are really fucking stupid.
5. Most desktop web browsers have idiot freindly built in tools for HTML editing.
6. You are really fucking stupid.
7. /pol/tards are really fucking stupid and it is blatant in how they act that they are painfully new to discussion boards, 4chan, the Internet in general and critical thinking.
8. Try to be less stupid in future.

I think it would be great if Trump got into power.
His pig headed arrogance may just be enough to fuck things over enough to get China and Russia trigger happy with their nukes. It's win-win for the most part living in Australia: being relatively isolated and nations wanting to play nice to access out uranium, and it would potentially mean a few hundred million less Burgerstani, which would be an overwhelmingly positive event for the progression of the human race. It would also mean no sugar daddy for Israel and the region likely exploding violently, potentially resulting both Jewish and Muslim cultural/religious world centres being destroyed and their cretinous people left with fuck all international support.

Imagine a world with most Americans, Israelis and sand monkeys gone. Holy shit, the human world would flourish. A man can only dream.

Then why is it that in modern day so-called "neanderthal brow" is associated with stupidity?

Wait, don't tell me, I'm gonna guess it's jewish propaganda. Honestly, just stop posting outside your little clubhouse.
>>
>>564825
What?
It's associated with stupidity because people think they were stupid because they died out, not really because it's correct.
Not everything's about Jews. You just have a victim complex.
I'm not going to argue with a strawmanning(And yes, that is the proper use of the phrase) jackass.
>>
>>564710
It's actually a bit more complex than that. I'm not an expert, but afaik, the problem goes as this (in layman terms):

>Thief checks the coding, finds a bug related to balance check and programs a contract. Imagine it goes as "You will pay me 1 eth every time I thrust my cock into your ass".
>Repeat 53 million times.
>The DAO, the company based on the ETH code, and its millions of users said "Yeah, ok!".
>Money is being transferred into a fund, before being sent to the thief.
>The system was designed to flag these kind of large transactions. "Wait, are you sure you want to pay 53 millions ETH to this guy?"
> "Huh... why do we have to pay 53 millions to this guy again?", "What the fuck do you mean we already agreed?!"
>Panic!

The ETH is basically frozen on an account while the system process the transaction. It will take 27 days, so the community have two options by now:

>a) Take the cock into their ass.
Let the thief walk away with the money. At one hand, this will prove the ETH system is free and decentralized, and test the limits of the ETH system. At the other hand, it opens the doors to hackers to find and exploit new bugs, and commit new attacks like this.

>b) Undo everything.
Through technical things that range from "re-loading a previous save file" (a hardcore reboot), to create an alternate path ignoring the transaction (imagine the Back to the future 2 plot) and moving forward, there are ways to recover the money and pretend nothing of this happened.

At one hand, everybody would recover their money, the system will go ahead as if nothing, and transactions will remain. At the other hand, however, this would prove the ETH isn't truly "decentralized" and that a few individuals can and will manipulate the entirety of the system, and although in this case is to stop an attack, there's the possibility of fucking around just because.

The ETH fags have 26 days, and a few hours to decide.

1/2
>>
>>565013

So, in short, the thief haven't and more probably won't receive a single coin from this attack. The community won't allow that, no way.

However, he Royally Fucked every single ETH fag so hard, I would laugh if it wasn't so sad. (Oh, what the hell, I'll laugh anyway) Right now, from $20+ dollarydoos, the ETH have felled into $11 per unit (50% drop within 24hr), and he forced the entire ETH community into choosing two options: to admit the ETH system is a complete bug ridden nightmare, or that some guys at the top literally own their collective asses and can do as they please.

Yup, the thief didn't receive money, but he won the "Troll of century" award.

Unless...

Maybe...

There are rumours. Word on the street is, some dude cashed out loads of ETH and converted them into BTC right before the attack went live. Technically he didn't won money (he just converted from one currency into another), he just didn't loss any value when the ETH price hit rock bottom. And is also possible he bought the ETH when it was worth much less than $20, so there are still some profits.
>>
>>565021
So how does this cryptocurrency stuff work?
>>
>>565023
not that anon, but from what I understand the short answer is that it's lots of complex math
>>
>>565026
>it's lots of complex math

Yeah, pretty much this.

https://bitcoin.org/en/how-it-works

To put it in a dumb way, the entire bitcoin network is a giant ledger that is public so every user can check and confirm every movement, and from there determine how many BTC each user owns. To secure it, there are lots of very complex algorithms that create "signatures" so validate each "page" (or block) of this ledger. Because the algorithms are so complex, each time one is solved, the entire chain rewards the responsible of solving it with some BTC that is created out of thin air. (No, don't bother to try to solve one with your laptop, it would take literal years to solve one even if it were working 24/7) This is called "mining" new BTC.

ETH had the advantage that you could write contracts within this ledger, so once certain conditions were met, the money would move on its own, without human intervention. In theory, this is awesome because you could program stuff like paying automatically to some worker their laboured hours (no accountant required any longer), or in certain dates to pay your monthly expenses.

However, the thief ran a contract to made the money to steal itself.

Pure brilliance.
>>
>>565023
