idk about the us but up here in Canada we use video games to train on C7s modified to use a pneumatic system to cycle, and lasers to aim at a screen. it's basically Time Crisis or Silent Scope but with a real gun instead of a plastic toy
there's a mode where it's just target shooting and various little games, but also a mode where you can control the movements of a character and engage in battles with AI opponents. (we don't usually use the latter one though because it's clunky as fuck and hard to use compared to just giving people blanks and earpro and having a LARPing session with instructors, but the basic target shooting/marksmanship games are very fun and popular)

What type of ammunition was used by the shooters?
Based on what I heard and saw with the sparking, the damage done, the accuracy over range with moving targets... the shooter is good, really good at what they do. Looks a hell of a lot like tracer rounds to me. There is still one thing that I saw that made me stop.
Ceramic vest penetration. By one round. Over a maximum of mid range.

At least here, military get ROE cards every time they're issued a firearm and ammo. Anytime you're handling a weapon that can be made ready, you're given at least one brief and have to sign out a card for it so you can prove several times over that you know the rules of engagement and are both confident in your ability to fire when necessary, but also how to handle the weapon safely. Where do you get the idea it's armor piercing? Body armor isn't designed to stop any kind of rifle round. Rifle rounds have a higher muzzle velocity, and pointed nose on the round. While pistol rounds are slower, and generally have a more rounded nose.
