The pyramid is structurally the most stable shape. Try stacking a pile of rocks together. They will naturally settle in a pyramidal shape.

Such structures would be very stable and survive thousands of years.

There wasnt any flood. Civilizations have existed for thousands of years prior to what was previously thought to be the time of the first ones in Mesopotamia.
Ruins exist off the coast of India, for example.
Those civilizations appear to all be comparable in level of advancement.
