This was fine, our industrial sectors were growing just as fast as our population, and our service sector was doing better than ever. However, it was these same people that, in the 80's and 90's, voted to get rid of these industrial jobs. They used the excuses "Oh, you don't want those jobs", "No, you need to go to College and become a doctor/lawyer/programmer/STEM major", and "It's much harder to afford all this nice stuff if you don't go into those fields". The problem with this, though, is that THEY could afford all the nice stuff they had off of slightly above minimum wage jobs. The minimum wage was tied to inflation, so it was always the equivalent of itself in the past, so someone working minimum wage in the 40's was earning the same in the 70's. However, in the 80's, the Neo-cons got rid of this. This was the first nail in the coffin.
After the Neo-cons had their shot at the economy, it was destabilized, but could still function properly. Then what happened was atrocious. We voted for "free" trade that was only free for the multi-national corporations, which could now move their factories overseas. This decreased the costs of goods marginally, but it made the economy incredibly unstable, and put a massive barrier of entry for the next generation. The older generation, the ones that voted for their welfare, got off scott free, since they no longer needed to work. Thus, the economy collapsed.

Very few things are produced in America anymore, because it simply is not viable. The Chinese do not care about the environment, so they do not need to spend money on making their planets safer and cleaner, while we do. The Chinese do not care about workers rights, so they do not need to spend money on making factories not as deadly, while we do. The Chinese do not care about minimum wages or living wages, while we do. It's cheaper in China.
But even now, China is losing THEIR jobs that they stole from us. They're losing them, and they're FUCKING PISSED. Everyone over there is in an uproar over greedy companies leaving China for even cheaper countries. Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and especially Vietnam will produce the same crud products for 5 cents less than China. These companies save money by just choosing to patronize the Vietnamese. Sucks for us and the Chinese, though, because now we have a new generation that will be jobless, and thus unable to consume. These "employers" will inevitably screw themselves over because they're crashing the West, and they were the last sturdy plank holding the tumbly house of China up.
Let this be clear, if the population does not shrink, or we do not take our jobs back, we will die out. The third worlders will be ecstatic, but everyone else suffers. It's not humanitarian to support these cancerous populations over our own. Let them die out.

You are so wrong, just because you have more cheaper labour does not mean it is good for the economy, rent's rise, cities get more crowded, and you need less labor as it is thanks to automasation that makes possible to create salads in factories from seed to cleaned and packaget product without human interaction (healthier too because you don't need pesticides in sterile environment). The living standards would fall so steep in your already overcrowded cities, and there would be more power consumption, more garbage, and more crime, that those cities become unlivable, and eventually natives would flee to the countyside, until there is no gated communties left.
