This is not 100% confirmed, in fact at best there's a 0.0000001% chance that it happened but my personal conspiracy theory is that JFK ordered his own assassination in order to make himself a martyr.
JFK was a very sickly man due to his war injuries and his Addison's disease, he was living on borrowed time and probably would have been dead within a decade of finishing his term in office. I can therefore see that it's plausible(but extremely unlikely) that he chose to sacrifice himself in order to further his political causes and cement his legacy as an American hero.
