Anything gravitational would only happen if they got close in their orbit, since the ninth planet would have an egg shaped orbit it would speed up around the sun and we'd probably get missed. You are overestimating the influence gravity can have especially with bodies around the size of earth and the supposed mass of the ninth one.
Pluto has 0.2% the mass of the earth and the ninth one is supposedly 5000 times more massive then pluto which means it's 1000% more massive then earth and that means it'll have a little less effect on us then Neptune would, and it would have to pass really close to even affect us, our orbit is really fucking large too. The chance is almost nonexistent and by the time it passes again we will be extinct or rule the fucking galaxy.
We are not dealing with fucking jupiter here, it's literally 0.3% the mass of jupiter.

Also we wouldn't know when the meteors would hit us until they would come close. Given how it has an irregular orbit it would need to give the asteroids a fucking massive speed in order to fling them here fast enough to make it every 27 million years years.
I'll do a bit of a calculation here.
It has an aphelion of 1200 so i'm gonna do that for high end and it's perihelion for low end
1200*AU = 179,517,444,840,000 meters
179,517,444,840,000/20,000,000 = 8,975,872 m/s
or 5,577 km/s
the average meteor and asteroid does never reach above fucking 100 kilometer/s and if they did then they need some ridiculous slingshotting by an interstellar object
So that means that these comets are literally impossible since they move 223 times faster then any other comet and are probably interstellar if they move so fast
>>
>>70266731

If i used the perhelion.
29919574140000/27,000,000 = 1,108,000
Which is just 9 times slower.
And still retarded since it moves 24 times faster then any other observed comet.
The article is lying, or retarded.
Since it also probably does it somewhere in the middle of the orbit it's probably higher then my low end calc and lower then the high end, average of 5,042,000 or 5 042 kilometers per second.

These comet showers are unnatural, and stupid, since nothing in the solar system except light itself and the sun moves that fast.
The article is bullshit, and we don't have anything to worry about anyways, they move so fast they can be nudged by the gravity of jupiter just a little bit and get thrown into the sun or off course.

Unless the planet literally has gravity magic or teleports or its comets do, it cannot do anything the article describes.
Based on a bit of simple math it would also on average make it take 5.4 billion years if it went a realistic 25km/s because comets do that.

It's 40 times further away from the sun then jupiter at its closest, nowhere near the asteroid belt. It's 6 times further away then neptune and at its furthest it's basically in the oort cloud for all i care.
>>70268122
There is nowhere near enough mass in the oort cloud or kupier belt to block out the sun from space.
The comets would have to move at 100 times the speed of the fastest comet to reach us in the timeframe described. If it was in a realistic speed it would "at best" come here once every 1.8 billion years. At minimum. Average would be at 5.4 billion or it would have had to have been coming since before the sun even existed. Or from a nebula.

The asteroids wouldn't have gotten anywhere close to the earth even with the highest of high end time (8,700 kilometers per second) and if it was realistic then it's 348 times slower...
348*27,000,000 = 9,396,000,000
or
9 billion years
at high end
low end is at 1 billion years realistic speed since these ones move too fast to come from planet 9

I'll just put it clearly
1 AU = 149,597,870,700 meters
27,000,000 years = time between showers
>If the shower is at a distance
Distance: 1600*AU = 239,356,593,120,000m
Speed: 8,865,059 or 8,865km/s (354.6 times faster then the average comet, impossible speeds for the solar system)
Realistic speed: 354*27,000,000 = 9.558.000.000 years. (one shower between every 9,5 billion years or: there was never a shower since it wouldn't have time to form.)
>If the shower is at its closest
Distance: 200*AU = 29,919,574,140,000m
Speed: 200au/27,000,000 = 1,108,132m/s or 1,108km/s (44 times faster then the average comet and 17 times faster then the fastest one)
Realistic Speed: 44*27,000,000 = 1,188,000,000 years (1,88 billion years, one shower per 2 billion years more or less
>Average distance
Distance: 900*AU = 134,638,083,630,000m
Speed: 900au/27,000,000 = 4,986,595m/s or 4,986km/s (200 times faster then the average comet)
Realistic Speed: 27,000,000*200 =5,400,000,000 (The planet would have have to have been formed at the moment the sun was formed, or before, and the shower would have already happened during the dinosaur era, or a few million years in the future)

That's irrelevant, it doesn't have the ability to speed up the comets fast enough to reach us every 20,000 year because the comets will reach us in two billion years, you dumbfuck.
Hypothetically that means that the "shower" only happens literally twice in the solar systems history and the next one will happen in 200 million years.

Every article that mentions its distance says that it's 200-1600 AU and that's where kupier belt and oort cloud objects are, like pluto and smaller objects.
