All the good policies like increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans, raising the minimum wage, strengthening unions and regulating wall street were blocked by Republicans. The problem I have with Obama is that he just wants an instant legacy to look back on without setting his plans up for long term success.
Obamacare will fail overtime for the simple reason that there are not enough medical providers (specifically nurses and physicians).
Medical students are graduating now from med schools with no residency slots, which effectively means their 4 years of post grad were useless. Residency slots are what dictate the amount of new physicians, not medical schools. To add to this, the new generation of physicians want more vacation time, and a better work-life balance.
What Obama did with his instant-legacy legislation was the equivalent of building a skyscraper without building the scaffolding to support its construction. The influx of people coming into the healthcare system due to cheap shitty plans will only rise in the comin years, and it will overwhelm and burnout old and new physicians and nurses.
