I don't drink and never have but I sometimes get worried if a potential gf or date thinks its weird and off-putting, like if am going out to dinner or on a date where drinking is expected.
Reasons for not drinking = don't want to be like parents with respect to drinking. Embarrassing when they get drunk at family gatherings and angers me when I can't talk to them properly after they have been drinking. I sometimes feel sympathy when they drink because I know that they go through some really tough times but I never want to rely on alcohol to cope with my problems.
Second reason is a personal health reason. Not general health, but I could be potentially putting myself at higher risk of a very specific (and serious) condition if I smoke or drink. It could be zero risk but at this point i'm not willing to take the chance. Its more of a "I probably should avoid drinking."
