It's an individual chosen by the candidate to represent a block of voters. I have volunteered to be a delegate for Mr. Trump in my state, but since I haven't voted yet don't know if I could even have a chance.
It's up to Mr. Trump's campaign to choose me.
I am not a party elite, just a volunteer, but most of the delegates are there because of party honors. So and so raised n money so they get to go to the convention yea! Except for this year it is a bit different.
Also the delegates can revolt after the first vote. This is when you need to learn about brokered conventions, and that I will leave to your intrepid Google skillz.
