They generally hate Syria, almost half of the population of Lebanon has Syrian roots because everybody, even their citizens, hates Syria.
It also takes the pressure off of Lebanon. If people start caring about Lebanon again, they would have to deal with Israel potentially bombing them, Syria bombing them, and so on.
There's also apparently checkpoints around Lebanon to pick up Syrian nationals, ran by the Syrian army. If they find out that you are a Syrian defector, they torture you and force you to go back to Syria and join the army.
