Actually California is by far the best place to do it. You can buy shit property cheap (for the area, expensive everywhere else) and turn it into a well done property. From there you can either run the leases, or sell, at a huge profit. That's why I'm here. The inland empire in Southern California is the best commercial real estate market in the country. The only thing is that it takes a pretty large initial investment to obtain one of those properties.

It doesn't matter at all which courses you elect here, once you get the "Abitur" (certificate that allows you to go to uni) you can study anything, depending on your grade. 1,0 is the best, you can study anything if you had that. Well yeah that's residential. That'll happen. Same thing happened on a smaller scale in the 80's. I don't touch houses. My group will buy something like pic related and either completely gut it or outright demolish it if need be. then we rebuild into something worth having, like skyrise condos, or an office building. Even industrial warehouses are extremely profitable if you can set them up correctly and on budget.
My projects cost a lot of money. Sometimes it takes a long time for return on investment, but if I ever want money quickly I'll just sell my part in the plan as soon as it becomes worth more than my initial investment. Even so, sometimes you just miss with projects and you're out a lot of money.

3.8 GPA @ state university (poorfag, didn't take loans, worked my way through over 6 years). Had to get an OSCP, CCNA, and a Network+ but now I have a decent job with a security firm. Spent a few years doing freelance code work and system administration beforehand.

Difficulty in hiring is dependent on the region of the country (or the world) that you're sending out resumes to. It's hard to get jobs with the larger firms on the West coast, due to H1-B and the popularity in hiring foreigners for cheap. Look for mid to small sized firms instead. Many do contract work with the DoD, so if you have a security clearance from prior service, you're golden.
The work itself wasn't as hard as the workload. They intentionally try to force attrition by overloading you without insane amounts of assignments. Once you're in your 3rd year, things quiet down. Honestly, the OSCP was harder than any work I had to do in school (and more fun). I think a lot of university curriculum, maybe even universities as institutions, are becoming outdated with respect to STEM fields.
US companies should create their own in-house training programs... but they never will as long as they have streams of cheap foreign labor.

Bachelor's degree in Linguistics. Masters' in neurological linguistics. I work as a speech therapist. I try to get get stroke victims to talk. It's a thankless job. I write reports for nurses and doctors which are ignored. Just exercising hands and arms can bring some speech. I've had some success. My fascination is the brain and how it connects to our body. I also work part time as a translator. French, English and German; I get emailed various tasks.
My wife is an intensive care nurse. I like my work. I hope it helps others.

Chinese is a bitch to learn.
The grammar is fairly simple, but memorizing the characters (they are not phonetic, and meaning isn't apparent from their structure) is what causes most people to give up. My school has a very small Chinese program, but my 101 class was an average size for any class, I'd say about 35 people.
201 was under 20.
301 was under 10.
420 is 4 people.
There are about 50,000+ characters in the Chinese language, and about 10,000 characters in common usage when you include technical jargon and religious words as simple as "rocket" or "hydrogen", "stability", or "bodhisattva". A semi-literate person (middle school education) can read about 200-400 of them. A high school graduate might read 500-1500. Mao's works were simple, using about 1500 characters, if I recall. Those entering college in China are expected to know around 3000. There's a saying you reach certain "plateaus" in studying Chinese, where you struggle to be able to understand anything beyond a certain level for months, even years, and then suddenly find yourself at the next level...but still struggling to understand different aspects of the language or segments of vocabulary. The process repeats itself. I know people who have been studying the language for 40 years and are struggling with a new aspect.
That said, I really enjoy it, mostly for the political aspects and because I like history and literature. Don't approach it unless you are autistic enough to devote yourself to it, and have a specific and solid career/life goal that motivates you to keep struggling, whether military, politics, working for the UN, getting rich through business, or just fucking lots of Chinese girls.

Of course you can have opinions on this or that ethical stand but its importance to anything is almost irrelevant.
