So let's get this straight;
He's got a knife, and he's walking quite aggressively down the middle of a road.
He's not stopping and he's not dropping the knife, even when multiple police officers with guns trained on him are ordering him to do so.
He is also believed by the officers involved to be under the influence of drugs.
Ignoring repeated orders to drop the knife and surrender, he continues walking down the street; he then suddenly changes his direction of travel from walking away from the officer to face toward him (this takes place very quickly and he is shot almost immediately after finishing his turn to face the officer). He is no more than 10 feet away from the officer; a distance that could be closed in two to three seconds.
What is the cop meant to do? Just stand there and get stabbed?
This is clearly justifiable homicide.

It took place within a matter of seconds. If something is a threat to you, and you have a gun, you shoot it until you are sure that it's no longer a threat or you run out of bullets. He exhausted his ammunition in 2-3 seconds. It's not like he was down on the floor for 5 or 10 seconds and he kept shooting, or he reloaded and shot again. He shot him causing him to spin, he then fell down and was shot while falling, and only a handful of shots (3 at the most) seemed to hit after he was definitely on the ground, and within a second or two of him being flat. The officer was clearly spooked and wanted to be damn sure he wasn't in danger any more.
I'm sure everyone can agree cop was in wrong. He was not justified in the 1st shot nor the 15 thereafter. Over a year to have charges brought against him is bullshit. Boy probably didn't even realize they were cops if he was tripping balls.

Declare your intention to retrieve things from the car, your pockets, etc. Ex. "Officer, my registration is in the glove compartment, can I open it and get it out?" Ex #2 "I keep my wallet inside the chest pocket of my jacket. I'm going to open my jacket and reach into the pocket if that's okay."
Don't make sudden movements. Move slowly. You really don't want a cop thinking you're trying to surprise him.
