Honestly, I think /pol/ is being ridiculous in its often spouted idea that the sheer notion of accepting refugess is bad - even in small numbers. However, the situation right now is dire because the offices are simply unable to handle the number of people. They are reports of the translators part getting skipped due to there not being enough translators around as well as the training period for a migration worker being reduced from the usual 3 months to just 2 weeks in order to get more people in these offices.
Those things are obviously an issue in making sure only the right people get in.

Yeah the US has an armed population but that's generally not relevant. There is a huge, huge difference between holding a gun as law-abiding citizen and actualyl pulling the trigger, against law enforcement no less.
