Why do your own generals admit that an American armoured division would lose to a russian?

Why is it wargames like recent NATO simulations show that they would lose control of the Baltics to Russia if a war was fought?

America can't even properly destroy ISIS, Russia has to clean up after them.

It's because the American military machine has become disastrously bloated because of constant policing duties and political patronage.

American military supremacy from 1993-2003 was absolute. But ever since then it has immensely declined
>>
>>55548624
Completely surpassed

Especially on land.

I'd say air is tricky, but Russian air defences and interception capability would make it impossible for the US to have the air supremacy it needs for its strategies to work, and because of the majority of its strategy is based on it now rather than air land battle, they'd fail.

American airforce generals are even admitting Russia is catching up or is caught up in air power
>>
>>55548629
You are so naive , yes russia could take over the baltic , but that s just fanta politics, if a war starts it s gonna be all nukes ( unless they decide no nukes let s see who is better ) . Russians have other thing in mind than the baltics, nato is just spreading fear . ISIS IS A JOKE , It s not like the US couldn t destroy them , they don t want to , they support them , they created it , to create instabilty in the region , and now they support AL NUSRA aka al qaeda? THEY FUCKING HUNTED AL QAEDA FOR MU 9/11 and now they support them and the media just doesn t care ..
>>
>>55548855
Thats not the point, were taking about capability. Not what will happen

Russia could destroy American land forces in a war, this means they are superior on land.

And there is no evidence it would go to nukes right away, it would most likely be escalation and possible cease fires along the way

Two things

1. The Russian Ruble is at all time lows against the dollar, hence the low valuation.

2. Commodity prices have tanked, further devaluing their natural resource holdings.

The exact same thing happened in the late 90s. Energy prices fell through the floor, Russia had a currency crisis, energy prices went up again, Russia did well for a decade.

Regionalpower. Able to dominate weaker neighbour countries. Thats it.
When you got ICBM the rest doesn't matter that much. Has territory: Yes huge forrests. Has resources: Yes, Angola has also many resources. Also the Sovjet Union had many resources.
And this "crafty leader" stuff: Maybe not the same effort than beeing reelected in a countey with a free press, opposition and a functioning democracy and social system.
>>
>>55556517
Well for me, the devaluation of the rubel, the increasing import prices and the still ongoing reliance on gas/oil exports without any substitutes are not a sign of good economic situation.
I' m tempted to accept your statement but we could maybe also take a look like maybe China, Germany or the US did grow in the same time. Don't take me wrong, the Russian Economy was before also the "gateway" for the collapse of the Sovjet Union.

. It is sure there for a certain extent but signifcantly less than in any other western country. "As of 2009, the Russian government owns 60 percent of newspapers, and in whole or in part, all national television stations."

>85% of Russians support Putin. It is democracy.
Honestly that not a sign of a democracy. In the GDR, the leader also had really high approval rates.
>>55556697
I would it describe way more simple. Without high oil and gas prices the sovjet union was simply not able to care for the personal needs and the military defence budget. The economic does matter alot.

>Now the first case of shitty geopolitical power

Nah, more like a wasted opportunity.
France had a huge colonial affiliation and even nowadays we own many seas and islands. We're literally everywhere.
However, our current leaders are fucking up everything. We are investing a lot in Africa and whenever shit hits the fan, France has to intervene. The shitty thing about it is that our leaders don't have the balls to completely boost their presence, unlike the Chinese. For fuck's sake, we know our nogs very well, we have been there for over a century, they speak our languages, their law heavily relies on ours, and yet we can't make anything out of it.
If anything, Germany has nothing on us when it comes to geographical presence in the world. Only Bongs can compete. And Murricans a little bit too.
>>
>>55556967
>Implying ole Gorby wasn't hopelessly naive and his policies didn't lead to the USSR falling apart.

The only way the USSR could have held together was by clamping down on opposition and reforming the economy china style. Glasnost did far more harm than good.

Still, getting rid of communism was a good thing in the long term, its a dead weight idealogy.
>>
>>55557037
I can only tell you that I was born in the GDR and my family could not simple move. You can go, leave the country. I don't want to lecture an american about his own constitution but you have freedom. I and my familiy experienced it in my life time what it meant to have not these fundamental rights.

Yes because our leaders are managing like shit.
For fuck's sake, we are about to lose New Caledonia, my birth place, because that fucking shitter named Hollande doesn't want to give any opinion about it.
We could get a lot of business deals like the Chinese are doing, but we are seriously not doing anything, except few contracts here and there. We are doing pretty ok with North Africa but we are wasting a lot of potential with the rest of Africa.
What I am saying is that "francophonia" is a wasted potential. African elites are either going to France or Britbong for educating their children and living peacefully. Colonial past may be a burden but even nogs use that language and common past for their own good.
>>
>>55557187
GDR may have been a shittier situation than the U.S. and modern day krautland are now, but you still have no real say in your government and if they want you gone then thats it. Granted the U.S. government prefers to make a laughing stock of its dissidents rather than shoot them in the head, but if anyone was an actual threat to the government they would disappear and no one would know.

I have my doubts when I think about for example the banlieu situation. Also these business deals are sometimes only possible for a country like China. From the history all these colonial stuff was mostly a burden and many fine men died defending some shithole in south east asia for example.

When you would have grown up in this country you would feel the difference. You can go to school or university, something which was not allowed if your partents for example had the wrong social class. You can't discuss stuff freely. See: We can discuss it here and you can mentiont that you think your goverment would actually eliminate people.
What dou you think would happend back in my birthplace when I mentionted something like this ? It is hard to convince but is my belief you and also us have way more freedom than before.
That does not necessarily imply the goverment is acting in my favour. But honestly: This can also happen because I'am just part of a minority without sufficent power.

>>
>>55557797
I don't know. Truth is they changed the system over time, but you had to be on the political line. Contradicting opions could eliminate any chance of a place at the university.
It started way before, in a familiy as kids we know that we would have a private opinion and a public one. Mixing these things could lead to severe problems. Was also a problem for my partents when I was young because children tend to speak too much.
>>
>>55557797
It was not that worse in every regard, but for me the combination of prosperty in the west, lack of personal freedom and economic dispair was leading to the fall. People base superpower status off military and industrial might. Whilst it is true that is a big part of it, most people forget the economic side of it is vital aswell. No point having a large military if you can't afford it. The US is technically bankrupt with 18.4tn in debt and rising each day. Don't be fooled by their projected might outside of the tourist hotspots all the same problems of lesser nations exist there.

You also have to remember its only been 24 years since the collapse of the USSR. Recovery didn't actually begin till Putin was elected in 1999.

He's done a great job getting Russia onto that list desu considering for 70 years they lived in a economically backwards mass murdering militant atheist regime.
