All I hear is Russia this, and Middle East that, like they already surrendered to China.

>We need a president who will not succumb to the financial blackmail of a Communist dictatorship. President Obama’s Treasury Department has repeatedly refused to brand China a currency manipulator – a move that would force China to stop these unfair practices or face tough countervailing duties that level the playing field.

>Economists estimate the Chinese yuan is undervalued by anywhere from 15% to 40%. This grossly undervalued yuan gives Chinese exporters a huge advantage while imposing the equivalent of a heavy tariff on U.S. exports to China. Such currency manipulation, in concert with China’s other unfair practices, has resulted in chronic U.S. trade deficits, a severe weakening of the U.S. manufacturing base and the loss of tens of millions of American jobs. In a system of truly free trade and floating exchange rates like a Trump administration would support, America's massive trade deficit with China would not persist.

>On day one of the Trump administration the U.S. Treasury Department will designate China as a currency manipulator. This will begin a process that imposes appropriate countervailing duties on artificially cheap Chinese products, defends U.S. manufacturers and workers, and revitalizes job growth in America. We must stand up to China’s blackmail and reject corporate America’s manipulation of our politicians. The U.S. Treasury’s designation of China as a currency manipulator will force China to the negotiating table and open the door to a fair – and far better – trading relationship.
>>
>>55375690
The fact that he even talks about going against China head-on, without any of this "we're actually allies guys, everyone's holding hands" is nice...Equals have to have some level of deterrence against fighting each other, some level of strength that the other respects
>>
>Lower the corporate tax rate to 15% to unleash American ingenuity here at home and make us more globally competitive. This tax cut puts our rate 10 percentage points below China and 20 points below our current burdensome rate that pushes companies and jobs offshore.

>Attack our debt and deficit by vigorously eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in the Federal government, ending redundant government programs, and growing the economy to increase tax revenues. Closing the deficit and reducing our debt will mean China cannot blackmail us with our own Treasury bonds.

>Strengthen the U.S. military and deploying it appropriately in the East and South China Seas. These actions will discourage Chinese adventurism that imperils American interests in Asia and shows our strength as we begin renegotiating our trading relationship with China. A strong military presence will be a clear signal to China and other nations in Asia and around the world that America is back in the global leadership business.

>but tariffs on Chinese products will be illegal according to WTO

No they're not.

>
There is no legally binding agreement that sets out the targets for tariff reductions. Instead, individual members of the WTO have listed their commitments to cut and bind tariffs on goods schedules that are part of the Uruguay Round Agreements. Additional commitments were made under the 1997 Information Technology Agreement.

Exactly right. Orgs like the UN, NATO, WTO, etc... all exist at our (the USA) leisure and the rest of the world needs a reminder of this. The American people and government all need a reminder of this. We keked the world during WW2 because you all couldn't get your acts together.

We'll remind you yet again.
>>

Russia is our enemy dipshit. They just announced they're going to develop missiles to break the new missile shield we're putting in in Poland. How is that friendly?
>>
>>55372571

the policy says some interesting stuff about tariffs etc but the "solutions" are nebulous at best.

it basically amounted to: cut corporate taxes and deploy our navy in the south china sea. sorry, not buying it.

We can tariff the shit out of them. We have enough sway over the EU that we can force a boycott between China and the US/EU and watch their society collapse as a result.
They will have hundreds of millions of workers with no jobs, they wont be able to import food, and they will rethink their policies really quick.

only in the short term
>>
>>55380576
The trade imbalance is mainly due to China's own protectionism. They don't want to lose access to our markets, so using tariffs as an economic weapon is a valuable tactic.

We're the largest market in the world. Europe is tanking. Africa, the Middle East, and Asia have always been shit and will continue to be, to the point China itself is outsourcing jobs. Threaten to remove our market, they'll get in line.

>>55380732

Pretty good thanks, early start today so a bit tired. Not too happy with the general election polls released a few days ago but they were by some company I've never heard of so I guess they are losers.

Yourself?
>>
>>55380732
China doesn't make anything the U.S. isn't fully capable of making. Cutting trade would be the ultimate "fuck you" to the companies that outsourced their machinery to China to pay for cheap Chinese labor and fuck the American worker.
>>
>>55381161
No I didn't mean, "How are you, British Trump lad?" I meant, what makes you the British Trump? But it's nice to hear you're doing well. I'm well, thanks.

>>
>>55379298
How would the us react if Russia put a missile shield in Mexico? Remember the Cuban missile crisis? Their reaction is entirely rational, just like the US's was in the 60s
>>
>>55381635
One is offensive. The other defensive.
>>
>>55380495
React to their trade policy that subverts our economy rather than taking it up the ass.
>>
>>55381235
You should start automating, problem solved. Invest in robotics and you will be free from third world labor forever.
>>
>>55381635
This is agreeable, Americans don't have a personal distaste for Russians.
Chinese, on the other hand, can get right back in line.
>>
>>55381836
We are, I work for a company that makes robotics that automate processes in automotive manufacturing. We are working on a machine that creates a plastic injection molded shell, trims it, checks over 1000 points to ensure color quality, uniformity, and for things like short shots, and places it in a rack. it's 100% effective unlike many workers.
>>
>We need smart negotiators who will serve the interests of American workers – not Wall Street insiders that want to move U.S. manufacturing and investment offshore.
Trump is actually the real moderate candidate except on guns on immigration and I mean that in a good way.
>>
>>55381938
Trump is more of a centrist, independent voters like centrists.
>>
>>55381635
Your argument makes no sense in relation to what I said. The whole reason we need a missile shield is because they're hostile. We're not shielding missiles from Poland or Germany because they're our friends. Russia is our enemy.
>>
>>55380884
The only thing they can threaten us back with is to stop purchasing us debt when we issue it. There are other buyers, and if we get our economic affairs in line then the debt issuance won't be as big a problem for us and their bargaining posture even less certain.

How can you hate this guy? Literally none of his policies go against what liberals want except immigration. Are you telling me people would rather be "tolerant" and let millions leech off of taxpayers even if it meant we'd be giving up the best choice we've been given? This is next level delusion.
