I doubt the people who put that wall of people their are actually this stupid. They know full well that they would be unreasonable assholes to tell off the media, they just didn't want the media in their in the first place. Probably because demonstrations which start of peaceful are usually escalated by people planted by police or oppositional forces to the protest. It's a pretty common method to disrupt these events. Still, by isolating reporters or journalists they are also pissing off a lot of people in the process.

10 years ago they would have been protesting the 'free speech zones' being set up for protesters far away from politicians. Yet here they are, quarantining entire public areas for their 'safe space'.
