Later that day Ben Shapiro did his own investigation and found thE passage in Carson's "Gifted Hands" biography, compared it with what Carson's manager stated and with what Politico wrote.
Turns out Politico fabricated their headline by playing word games and lying. They have since issued an apology but at the end of the day Friday.
I guarantee that this story was released full well knowing it wasn't true. The media already did their damage early Friday when low info voters are paying attention.
