Blacks were brought up learning various instruments, and really passed through the generations a musical "soul" crafted through many generations of genuine oppression.
Then rap music came along. Gone are the uplifting lyrics, replaced by vapid materialism, sexism, anger towards whites, authority, education, etc. Black kids are no longer picking up a guitar or saxophone. They're making their fire new mixtape and spamming it over Youtube.
The cycle has been broken. Black music is dead.

My post was made more in reference to the themes and culture surrounding black music of the 50's-70's. Of course there were drugs involved, there were drugs involved in EVERY genre of music, that's just how it was.
