In fact, the *only* reason he has provided is the ambiguous "until we can figure out what is going on." In other words, he has no reason to ban muslims from entering the US except to provide his xenophobic supporters fuel for their ignorant hatred.
And, furthermore, waiting until Trump figures out what most learned people already know would take several lifetimes.
