so friends I always knew this was a possibility and accepted the risk of parking my bike outside but I had no other viable option

and now my bike is stolen. I only have liability cause it's a 12 year old bike. Should i try something shady like upgrade my insurance to comprehensive and report it stolen a few weeks later? Or just take the loss?

Pretty disappointing and bad feeling but it is what it is.

Literally just buy a new bike, the insurance company wouldn't even give you shit for a bike that old. You'd be lucky to even get 2000$.

>>15267596
I don't feel like messing up my future for this. Thanks for the information about the fraud thing. I bought it on Craigslist for around 4.2k, didn't put many miles on it so it's probably worth 4k right now.

I've been learning on a 250 for about a year now and am trying to decide on what bike to get next. I'd like to try a bit of off-road stuff in addition to commuting and doing some longer trips and the DRZ400 looks really good, my only concern is that it wouldn't do too well at motorway speeds for an extended amount of time.

I was also looking at the DR650 as well as the KLR, don't have a lot of money though so would prefer the DRZ. If it can't handle extended motorway speeds I might stretch a little bit and get one of the other two though.

Since I live in NZ motorway speed means really no faster than 110 kmh/70 mph.

Any advice? Thanks.
>>
>>15267650
the drz should be able to handle highways just fine

is there anything better than a sv650. Only opposition I can think of is the ER6-N or possibly a MT03. But those two are a bit out of budget without offering much more.

I'm kinda disillusioned with the Autobahn. Road quality isn't all that, mostly three lanes and rather busy.

North (North-East) France is where it's at. Great smooth asphalt carpets, wide, little trafic. You pay toll and there are speed cameras granted. But they are stationairy, infrequent and clearly announced by signs like 1km upfront.

>>15268072
most don't come street legal except the pigfat dual sports and certain specific models like 2007+ EXCs. Old euro bikes like mine are a bit of an exception though. They don't exactly fit the road standards, but the papers that come with the bike don't have "OFF ROAD ONLY OFF ROAD ONLY OFF ROAD ONLY" written all over so they usually get a normal motorcycle like any street bike. Mine was super easy to register, but I've added a horn and some proper lights.

Most japanese bikes say "OFF ROAD ONLY" so I hear they're a bit harder to do, but still possible. Some states are easier than others.
>>

>>
>>15268096
depends on the state I think. Most don't do emissions checks or even specify that 2 strokes can't be legal. They just see that some bikes say off road only and won't register it. But there are ways around that like I said.

Carbs flooding and it's leaking down through the valves and cylinder into the crankcase while the bike sits turned off

In a different way, my XR650R is exactly like that. It's so good at 60 or so offroad, I'm holding it back

Honda knew this and put meh radiators on it so it overheats if you ride below 30 mph. Hopefully the KDX will teach me to be fast enough for this bike, probably not though kek.

that is just sand riding in general, you do a lot of sandy shit yeah?
anything under 20km/h and you feel like you are going to fall over, thats why a lot of people who first start riding when they are older eat shit so hard going slow then never get faster because they think faster means that handling will get worse when its the opposite
>Honda knew this and put meh radiators on it so it overheats if you ride below 30 mph.
kek sounds like my ktm, if i get below 3rd gear in single trails it boils, have to try and stay over 50km/h, do 15 minutes below that and gotta stop and have a bike nap

Well first you have to find the best sportbike class to find the best sportbike. A balance between fuel efficiency and power. I'd say 600s
So then what is the best 600? Good low and middle power for day to day use, with good power in the upper revs for the track.

Even here in California is lenient on street ridden motorcycles. Dirtbikes have it bad though, if you go to state property to ride. Yearly registration required to ride in those properties, and there's emissions and noise standards with very eager park rangers ready to enforce them.

And some related blogging
>few years ago, family goes to the desert to ride
>we arrive at the park late in the evening, everyone's getting ready to go to sleep to ride early the next day
>camp next to us decides that's perfect riding time and no one can sleep because they're riding right next to us
>we pay them back the favor the next morning when they're nursing their hangovers
>they leave, we expand our camp
It was a fun weekend. I hope I get to do it again.
