It's funny that their ductati breaks down like every other chapter. She's got the madmax cub now though.

I read airing up your tires to a little beyond max greatly enhances the tire life. But does it reduce your contact patch too much?
My bike says 21 rear/ 26 front but the tires are rated to 39 psi each. I bought it off some guy and it was like 31 rear/ 26 front. I'm a cheap bastard and it handled okay at the higher pressures, so what do you guys think?

I bet none of them ride a BMW.

I really hate how that bike looks from low angles. I had the same thing with the 300 where the fairing looks open and weird from below in all the staged pictures but then in person it looks good.

the two literally have nothing to do with each other. the only thing the two companies share is the badge.

they also make the 3.8l turbo V8 for mclaren.
>>15241136
They couldn't send some engineers to help out, or be helpful. That's what happens. The inner cylinders are only like 2 or 3mm apart. Car guys can't into shit like that.

Ricardo does both. And even transmissions.

I'm thinkin maybe I will get drink some beers and clean some loaded guns tonight. I don't have to be back to work for 3 more days. Plenty of time to recover from a hangover and gunshot wound.
Since changing the fork seals and the grey awful oil for fresh Fuchs stuff, the front end on the GPX feels incredible. Thank you for reading my blog (No one else cares about mai baiku but 4chan)

I know. They did the tranny for the K1600 also. But Ricardo doesn't build cars like BMW the car company does.
>>15241230
>not shooting yourself with small caliber bullets in order to build a tolerance to high caliber bullets
Guys help me figure it out!
>break hydraulic clutch hose banjo
>replace it with an OEM hose that screws directly into the master cyl instead of using a banjo bolt
>take off the slave cylinder in order to get the clearance to screw in the banjo bolt on that end
>tighten everything up
>try to back-bleed it with fork oil
>can't do that because pressure leaks around the outside of the bleeder screw when it's not tightened down
>fill up the MC and pump the lever to get the fluid pushed through
>tighten up the bleeder screw
>clutch seems to be free of air. It disengages properly and the lever feels good
>but it loses pressure as I feather the clutch so the engagement point moves in and the clutch starts to drag until I fully release the lever and let more fluid flow in from the reservoir
>replacing the master cylinder piston does literally nothing
What is wrong? I can't find an answer anywhere
>>15241242
they build car engines

>>15241250
They only do high performance shit though. BMW has too much shit to do than pay some one from the car company to make an engine for a motorcycle. None of their car engines rev to 13,000 rpm in less than a blink of an eye.
>>15241242
Ricardo builds car engines m8. Both for the street and track. They build that twin turbo v8 for McLaren.
>>15241269
Last two will probably be the notazusa sperg
>>15241279
Yeah, they still don't build cars.
>>15241269
Why didnt they do a harley waifu?
>>15241284
My point was they have a team of engineers that can do both bike and car engines.
>>15241291
Harley wouldn't even be able to make a 400cc bike capable of highway speeds.

It's made by socially awkward nerds, figure it out.

No more HIDs to burn shit out. Only using 100W LEDs.

Yes you can.
>>15241363
so just no burnouts and no racing tires pretty much?
>>15241352
Depends, once you get set up with a bike, license and gear it's fairly inexpensive.
Bikes have much smaller service intervals than cars though, and the tyres don't last anywhere near as long either.
>>15241365
stick with a jap touring/sport touring bike and there isnt much youll have to do aside from basic maintenance.
some guy has over 380,000 miles on a vstrom 1000 now on the original engine

Already bought a nipon 2014 ninja 300 though

I have an Italian moneypit and I'm about $9k in to including buying from a stealership and crashing it, upgrading expensive ass components, and modifying the fuck out of it, and that's probably the most expensive you're gonna get in bikes unless you buy brand new like a retard.
Take that as you will.

It's not particularly fast, it turns fine, it runs, it'll be reliable enough, you'll be able to learn to wrench on it, you don't have to worry about dropping it, comes with cool duct tape vinyls on gas tank, and it'll work for a beginner bike.
I'd ask $2600, aim for at least $2900, and enjoy the bike.
>>15241450
the 650 doesn't have a removable subframe?

its removable if you try hard enough.
i think most of the older jap DS bikes had one piece frames even if they had a dirt counterpart that didnt for whatever reason

>>15241564
How? There's nothing about motorcycle riding that causes an increase of twisted ankles. Playing tennis is more dangerous to ankles. So is house painting.
>>15241578
Is that why the most common injury in a motorcycle accident is an ankle injury followed by head injuries?

>>15241626
Carpal tunnel and burns are not really motorcycle crash related, more stupidity and long term damage
>>15241605
No lights, no plate, different ignition, more power because no pollution restriction, usually differents maps etc etc, the list can go on and on since it depends of the model and the brand of the supermoto, sometimes they have à complete different chassis too...
>>15241634
There's still at least 15 more activities more dangerous to your ankles. Also, boots protecting you are a myth. They really only prevent skin removal.
>>15241650

the mt-07 is a LAMS bike ya spanner, 39kw, 63nm of torque
Needs some advice.
Really keen on buying a certain demo bike since its $7,000 cheaper than new. Only has 60km/35miles on the clock. The kicker is that I can't legally ride the bike until 2 days after this bike goes off sale due to license restrictions.
Do I take the plunge and buy it knowing I cant test ride it before buying?
There's a few second hand bikes around the same price but are 8-10 years old..

I don't understand that wonky situation, but find a friend or some one you trust that can ride it. Or, take the plunge. It should still have some type of warranty if it was a demo. Just check the ergonomics while sitting on it obviously.
>>15241718

>>15241737
>The RM is known for great cornering
Since when?
That is what Yamaha and KTM are known for, RM's are known for being cheap shit with low quality everything on them which makes them cheap to buy and then even if you did go out and buy all the after market parts you would still have something worse than the competition only it cost more money.

>The rm turns so well its sick. I have ridden a KTM 250EXC a good bit but it doesnt compare to the RM in handling. >I have ridden a KTM 250EXC a good bit but it doesnt compare to the RM in handling.

And I wonder why it didn't compare?
Think maybe it has something to do with comparing the handling of a MX bike to an Enduro bike with completely different suspension set ups?
RM fanboys will say anything to spin a compelling case for their shitbike being good.
>>15242063
they were asking about riding innawoods, not on an MX track. They said the RM is good all around, not just on a track.
A lot of people don't like the way the PDS shock on KTMs handles different terrains.
>>15242079

fixed that typo for ya m80, in any case at the moment the list of bikes to get goes Husqvarna > KTM > Beta > Gasgas > Kawasaki > Sherco > Honda > Suzuki

>>15242259
didnt know pipe length could change torque like that. if they dont need to use this method for a torque increase, it would be a cool way to drop a bit of weight to have a super short pipe if it went straight out the back of the cyl.
So my stepdad has given me his old KLR250.
It has been sitting in a shed for quite a while (6 or so years) and I don't know a lot about motorbikes. What should I check before I try starting it? It was running fine when he put it in there.
Obviously I'll put new fuel in it and check/change the oil.
>>15242290
the gen previous to it had a corkscrew under the seat.
those scavenging performance effects are why things like the FMF power/megabomb headers exist
>>15242291
change the oil, dribble a little into the bore via the spark plug hole to avoid starting it dry.
aside from that and a good carb cleaning you should be good to give it a try
Hey /o/, first time I'm posting here.
I have a quick question. Should you be able to push your bike at all if you're mostly holding in your front brake; it seems like a fucking obvious question, right? The front brake in my bike went to shit after removing the front caliper to replace the gaskets in my forks. When I hooked it back up, the front brake barely worked. After trying all sorts of options (bleeding the brakes, new brake pads, etc), it still wasn't working so I took it to a shop. When I got it back, they claimed to have rebuilt the caliper and replaced the brake line, which was old and swollen up they claimed. However, the front brake still isn't fucking working. At least I don't think it is.
I can push my bike with the brake almost completely held in. It takes some effort, but I can do it. Those fuckers insisted the brakes on my model bike are supposed to function like that and wouldn't do anything else about it, nor would I want them to.
So I come to you all to ask what you think some possible reasons could be for my lack of a front brake. The brake fluid is full, and the brakes have been bled by myself. The brake pads are brand spankin' new as well. I'm at a loss for what could be wrong.

is your caliper hanging up on the free floating mounts? when you grab the brake the caliper should move slightly as it grips the rotor but only a couple mm at most.

I have no idea. I'll have to check.
I really am open to any idea. It's not like a disk brake is some super complex system.
>>15242306
It is literally because your pads are brand new, they need to be worn in before they will grip properly, if you want them to without riding the bike to get them there go over the new pads with an angle grinder and rough them up a bit.

>>15242368
They just kind of mush down to the bar. Which made me think air was in the brake line, but I bled them as did the mechanic at the dealership.
So I may be getting a 2000 Yamaha R1 as a trade in soon.
I'm going to check out the bike later today.
Anything specific I should look out for?
How about mileage and timing chains and shit like that.
I can't ride yet so I won't be able to drive it.
Taking my MSF beginners course right now(safety course in Burgerland for new riders). Two of eight people in the class already bought brand new bikes before they got their licenses. One guy bought an R6, dropped it twice within 50 miles, and another time was nearly thrown off from braking too hard. Three out of eight people in the class are asking the best way to conceal carry while on their bike. Another guy in the class has a story about EVERYTHING, and wastes close to 45 minutes or so of class time blathering about nothing that contributes to the class. There are three of eight people (including me) who are open that we know next to nothing about riding which is why we signed up for a motorcycle class designed for people who have never ridden a motorcycle. Why do the majority of people in a beginner course have to pretend to be Johnny Badass who have been riding since they were suckling the tit? Fucking reeeeeee.

you might still have air in the line, i had good luck kludging mine when i bled it after a reabuild by mounting it up high so there wasnt a highspot for the air to collect in the line.

Thanks. I will probably try bleeding the brakes some more tomorrow. It just doesn't make sense, but it still pisses me the fuck off that those idiots at the shop insisted it was normal to be able to push my fucking bike by hand with the brake pulled in.
>>15242388
My course was the total opposite. 9 people, and all of them were completely new. Everyone was eager to learn. The worst thing I saw was the 19 year old talking about how he was going to buy a Ninja 636 to daily. He showed up both days wearing two different sets of brand new matching gear. But he was cool.
There was the one guy who insisted that most of your braking power comes from the rear wheel.
Other than that, super chill. Guess it's just your town.
>>15242138
They haven't made them since the 90's and probably never will because lolemissions.
If you want one then import a CBR250RR from Japan or Australia. And then import another as a parts bike because god help you if it breaks.
