If it's a write off and you choose to buy it back from insurance it will have a salvage title and to register it you'll need to get a special inspection and pay a bunch more jewgold. If you repair it you can have the salvage title turned into a rebuilt title and your registration goes down.

I'm about 90% sure of the above.

>>
>>15239420
They know how to do it, I've had OEM heated grips from them before but somewhere they thought interfacing it with the main cluster was more important than actually warming your hands. Definitely getting Oxfords on my Blade/S1000RR if the 2017 Fireblade turns out to be a disappointment.
>>
>>15239410
I had one for enduro riding but it was just too cumbersome and I couldn't throw the bike around like I wanted to.
Plus it had the worlds cheapest zip that snagged on any piece of material it could find
>>
>>15239429
Depends if the headstock is okay and if it's worth more to them as parts.
>>
>>15239425
oh man, the stock pegs + feelers on the cbr500r are embarassing.

I scraped them VIOLENTLY doing a 90 degree turn off within the first 2 minutes of riding one (wasn't my bike) and it still had like 3/4 of an inch of chicken strips left.

That being said I know somebody who had full rearsets and clip ons and the ergos work quite well when you change both.
>>
>>15239431
Factory heated grips on the s1000 do a pretty good job unless you're riding in subzero temperatures
>>
>>15239436
The 500 isn't really a supersports, didn't the ergos tip you off?

like I said, this was just turning on an intersection. I wasn't trying to get my knee down, the stock pegs with the feelers on give it a cruiser like clearance.

Things don't need to be out and out sportbikes to have clearance.
>>
>>15239439
I'd consider them on the BMW but I want to give Honda a chance on updating the Blade first. Besides, I won't have money for a second new bike until August next year (I want to pay in full).
>>
>>15239436

Yeah they're painfully low, to the point that if you're on an off camber corner, you can scrape them when you're not even trying. Getting the pegs scraping on roundabouts is one thing, but when you're just riding along it's really off-putting.

It is only a commuter, but it does handle so well otherwise, the low pegs really do let it down.
>>
>>15239433

>>
>>15239442
Thanks. I have 2 jackets (vented and waterproof) with me and if it's warm enough I just air dry like I did in Germany.
>>
>>15239432
The Leatt 5.5 in my first picture didn't get in my way at all, it was less cumbersome than the leather jacket I wear on the street.
>>
>>15239454
Insurance companies are fickle bastards. I hope it works out well. Salvage might be cheaper in the long run.
>>
>>15239447
Well I'm wearing summer gloves in winter and the heated grips on my bmw are keeping my hands toasty warm in like 8c riding temps plus wind.
Didn't even realise Honda had oem heated grips for its fireblade

you don't need abs as a starter 2bh. bike brakes kinda suck regardless and if you're activating abs chances are you were riding out of your skill.

Is it possible to learn to ride a bike at 36 years of age or I'm too old?

What bike would you eventually recommend?
>>
>>15239709
There was a 62 year old guy in my msf class and even he passed.
>>
Sup /dbt/.

After my brother and I got our bike licenses, our dad wanted to get back on a bike. He's always had supersports bikes, and was looking at one. However, he had a bad rally crash the other week, breaking a vertebrae in his back. He'll be able to ride again once healed up, but a supersport is probably going to be a bit too harsh for him now, so I've been looking around at comfier bikes that can still give him a buzz if he wants to go faster.

So far I've got:

Honda VFR1200
Yamaha VMAX (at a push)
Yamaha Tracer 900
Yamaha XJR1300
Kawasaki Z1000SX
BMW K1300S

Any more you can think of?
>>
>>15239690
dis xt225
>>
>>15239709

At 24, in my first MSF class, everyone else was at least double my age. Granted, it was at a Harley dealership.

What type of bike are you looking for?
>>
>>15239731
I'd say it's a toss up between the big VFR and the K1300S. The BMW is slightly faster but the VFR is slightly more refined and comfy (which also makes it feel slower). Really, it comes down to which he prefers and should definitely test ride both. The XJR and Kawasaki aren't quite in the same league of rip your face off speed.
>>
>>15239709

Absolutely, when I was doing my license, there was some dude who looked easily in his 60s doing his license. Strangely he was doing his A2 license which pissed me off, as he could easily go do his A license, whilst I'm limited.
>>
>>15239718

Cool

>>15239740

Something classic like a Moto Guzzi or a Triump
>>
>>15239748

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. He definitely is a fan of Honda, I've had a few and so has he and he always swears by them. That being said he'd probably also like to try a BMW, and the BMW is probably much nicer finished.
>>
>>15239753

Nice, so I don't need to worry about my age
>>
My friend just bought a cbr500r, how much did he fuck up?
>>
>>15239769

If he's on an A2 license, he's bought one of the better options for his license.

If he's not restricted in any way, he dun goofed, and this is coming from a CBR500R owner.
>>
>>15239769
might as well kill himself
not because the bike sucks, but because life sucks
>>
>>15239761
>the BMW is probably much nicer finished

I didn't find that when I test rode it, the BMW is definitely more nimble but the Honda really shines in how relaxed it is from a walking speed all the way up to its limiter at 165mph. You do feel the weight when trying to switch between opposing corners rapidly but once it's in a corner, it sits there like a gyroscope. I think this is what puts a lot of people off the larger VFR, it's a lot easier to get a thrill when you're rumbling along with your teeth shaking. Both are excellent bikes.

If he goes with the VFR, the black and white faring is a lot easier to keep looking good, the red finish with its deep metal flake will demand you polish it every weekend but I still maintain the latter looks better.
>>
>>15239788

Yeah I'm tempted by a VFR as well, but I'm quite intimidated by the weight. I do quite like the BMW too, I'll have to try both.
>>
>>15239709
is that fucking Tsar Nicholas the second in that orthodox icon on the wall?
>>
>>15239754

Used Triumphs are easy to find.

Moto Guzzi, not so much, you'd better love tinkering to own one, but I can't stop looking at them when I see one in the wild.
>>
>>15239788
To add, both bikes benefit enormously from the GT edition Pilot Road 4's. They're a hybrid design between bias and radial so you still get a smooth run in a straight line but they also maintain their roundness better at lower pressures so rolling into and out of corners is easier. Their also enormously confident in the wet.
>>
>>15239807
You'll understand when you test ride it but the weight isn't as much of an issue as it appears on paper. However, if you drop it because you're laughing at a community support officer on an MP3, then you'll feel quite the fool as you struggle to right it.

I've got an MT-09, need to get a tail tidy and some frame sliders. It's a 2015 model so it does not have TC. I originally wanted to get it with TC however i got a good deal on an old stock brand new bike so I went with it.

That guy probably made the mistake of doing the reverse peace-sign/ 1-4 finger 45 degree angle wave. That has a particular significance to biker guys even though alot of motorcyclists use it.

Usually if the rider is wearing colors/ a vest with patches of some sort, you don't wave unless you're in that scene and know what you're doing. Don't wave them if youre on a dirtbike/scooter/sportbike/metric cruiser. It's offensive then.

So do you not understand how insurance works? Or how frame sliders work, for that matter?

Are you under the assumption that frame sliders are the only thing that touches the ground when you crash?

Do you not understand that if your frame gets scratched it is a super duper easy way for them to total your bike?

All of those still hit if you have sliders. They're to protect your frame. Frame. Sliders. It's in the name.

As opposed to ripping out the engine mount screws?

If they were just trying to keep the frame from dragging on the road you'd have low profile covers along the side of it like the crankcase ones, not big rubber dildos hanging out past the bodywork at a 90 degree angle.
>>
>>15240495
You're both idiots.

Frame sliders are called that because they mount to your frame. Their purpose is to stick out so that your bike will only touch the ground at specific points, specifically front and rear axle sliders and bar end sliders, so that you don't slide on your cases or fairings.

Jesus, I'm a dumbass but you two are full retard fuck.
