Needs to carry camping gear. Needs to do highways for hours (probably around 3-4 but as long as 8)

Nah, but I have other dreams with larger costs and timespans and I stand by what I said, it's worth saving it up yourself.
That said, it's your dream so fulfill it in whatever way you see fitting. Maybe compromise? Work two years and save up half the amount? The main problem is that you're more vulnerable with loan, if something goes wrong you're straight down the shitter. Even if you have a comfortable job right now there's really no guarantee that you'll keep it. Maybe the bike wasn't as nice in reality as in your dream?
I don't know the details of your life, a loan might be worth it, just make sure you've thought through all possible consequences and that you're okay with them or have a backup plan to handle them, even the unlikely/shitty ones.

Just got call from mechanic. Forks seem to be straight, right hand side chrashbar has folded around the cylinder, valve cover seems to be leeking. Don't know what else, am going to see it tomorrow. Kinda nervous.

Don't listen to the meme masters. ABS is a great feature, and it's proven to be a life saver in panic situations. They say you're fucked because it won't teach you how to brake but these things only tend to kick in when the wheel is going to lock up. It'll also help with resale value.

Just got back from a ride. I found a dope road with good pavement, no traffic and tons of good curves. Then I saw lightning and black clouds in the sky blowing my way so I turned around. The problem isn't engineering students sitting around because we still get shit done.
The problem is all these fucking average intelligence cucks coming to uni, making the workforce smaller and the universities have to make the courses easier because students who don't graduate cost them money. So the students who actually know their shit sit around bored. And since people have low expectations you don't give a shit at work either. This is academia for you, it's been that way since the seventies.
