help me /dbt/

my bike give trouble to start sometimes but the specifics circumstances are weird.

it only will act up the first time its started for the day. it cranks but no cigar (FI- im not just being retarded with a carb) for a few tries and then it will slowly turn over. this doesnt happen whenever i ride to anywhere that day.

dealer suggest is that it doesnt get ridden enough because my commute is about 7-10 mins but i always ride for at least 25 mins on the way back. additionaly theyve suggested that it sits too long but thats usually not more than 3 days

the only thing that has improved the situation is changing where i park from a spot in the sun(under a cover) on an incline to a spot on flatter ground that is in the shade for a greater period of the day

there was also one incident of the bike not starting and the started getting progressively slower untill it stopped and wouldnt respond but it started up half hour later with no delay

wtf is it doing because i dont know

how much of that tank can you actually use before your bike dies? I don't imagine it would be able to use any of that shit lower than the float bowl.
Do you have to wheelie to keep the fuel flowing once it gets to that point?

Ok /dbt/ I have a real project but I need some help in realizing it's feasibility, IF it's even feasible.

I own a 2015 Yamaha FJ-09, it's an amazing all around bike however it's not very capable off road because of how low the engine sits. SW Motech makes a skid plate for the bike but it further reduces the 5.5in of ground clearance to probably about 5in or less.

I wanted to raise the bike up about 3in and my thoughts are either new suspension, or somehow sticking on a 19in or 21in front wheel, with a 18in rear, or leaving the 17in rear and slapping on a Continental TKC80 on there.

How hard would buying some new rims and fitting new fenders? Also, where would I even go for raising the suspension? I know this is probably a bad idea but I have about $2-3k to work with, plz help

Tanks vent through the material and will make any paint or graphics bubble pretty quickly, that's why tank graphics always have perforations.

>>14973458
According to the specs, it's 4.2 gallons volume, but it's marketed as a 4.0 gallon tank for the reason you said. Last time I filled up though, I had been on reserve for a bit and according to the pump I put 4.27 gallons in.

Yes. Not going to do carb and big bore until the engine dies.

>>14973466
I really doubt you're going to be able to find a way to replace that rear wheel due to it's width, but if you could, you'd have to remove the rear fender most likely, find a hub that's compatible with or without custom made spacers, and determine a tire size that will fit on top of that.

In the front you can probably do the same, but raise the fender up with a custom bracket.

Raising the suspension can be done at a suspension shop, it's a little bit pricey but they should be able to get you a few inches and the suspension will work even better than before.

You might be able to get a little height by dropping the fork tubes down further in the triple clamp if they're not already as low as possible, and you might be able to find different linkages for the rear, I know they make lowering links, dunno about raising links.

You could have a custom exhaust made to put it along the side instead of below, but that might look like shit and be in a place that will burn you.

tl;dr spend the money on a DRZ400S

I went for the CB300F because I hated pulling the fairing off for maintenance the last time I owned a bike. It's weak and underpowered but the mileage is incredible. Remember, you get exactly what you pay for. The bike is working hard at 75 MPH and I constantly find myself wishing there was more top end for passing but I'm already at 8000 RPM in 6th. I'm also a fatty at 5'8" and 180 lbs. Being unfaired, you get blasted by the wind and being so light, you get tossed around by crosswinds.

The flip side is you can literally toss the bike from one hand to the other hand in the corners. On my canyon runs around here in the East Bay, California, I keep it in 1st and 2nd and it rips. The powerband is very good in the midrange.

This bike is made in Thailand. It's not Chinese tier quality but it's a cheap bike. I'm not sure if the other bikes are Japanese or Italian made.

Why is it so hard to replicate it? It was so easy and natural feeling at the time. Now I think the anticipation is fucking with me.

i rode an 848 for a couple years, people sometimes say "nice bike." you just flash them an icy smile and say thanks and turn away and that's that. if you're going to avoid social interaction at least learn to do it with some grace

I ride a shitbike and everyone else I see with a shitbike wants to talk to mee. The other day I took my bike to my college campus and one guy with a DRZ stopped to talk to me, and took down my number so we could meet up and go riding some time. Another stopped me on my way in the door to talk about my bike and said he was converting a CRF to street legal, and took down my phone number for the same reason.

I guess they both saw my autism because I haven't heard from either lol.

nobody seems to like my versys. which is just fine by me, of course. i don't know how people live day to day driving around actual nice vehicles like ferrari's. they must really get off on the attention.

I'm having a seriously hard time finding a decent jacket.
Anyone have any suggestions?

All week long I have to hear shit about how I crashed and it just does not seem to stop. Fuck. I want my parts to arrive already so I can stop hearing everyone's hilarious commentary.
