Nah. I had the CBR250RR for years and riding is my job. I had to do a bunch of defensive driving stuff for work as well.

I don't find 600s and 1000s that alike either. The instant-power thing is just too good for everyday riding. I'd probably prefer a 600 for the track though.

Rather than worrying about how to lift my bike with a floor jack to remove the forks, would it be easier to just lay it on the side and get it done that way?
>>
>>14974974
No, you aren't supposed to lay bikes down
>>
>>14974974
You're going to have to keep the bike propped up on its farings like that, way too easy to fuck something up.

Just get a stack of books and a couple 2x4s if you're that desperate.
>>
>>14974974

Gunna leak gas out of the gas cap/carb if the tank is still on and might get some oil in the cylinder but that'll burn off when you start it up next. Also gunna scratch your fairings if you have them unless you have a spare mattress laying around/do it in the grass.
>>
>>14974974
Use a 5gal bucket or a milk crate. Sheesh. You want to keep everything in alignment.
>>
>>14974974
laying it down will likely make it hard to get to the fork clamp bolts and other shit so it will be a pain to take them out. Also your bars will probably contact the ground making it hard to move them around.

Alright dudes, I did some anal-yzation of my buell gasket problem (pic related). Idk wtf is going so if any of you goyim are mechanic please halp.

Many Picto: ---http://imgur.com/a/wvX5T---

So it's dripping from a bolt on the head and from the beginning of the exhaust, mostly the exhaust. After it warms up the exhaust area drip starts smoking a good amount, easily visible, like exhaust in winter. a similar smoke but much less in volume comes from where the headers go into the rest, on the header side of that silver clipband thing.

Technical terms for everything since not my bike, just senpai bike, also not many experience.

Is it most likely internal gasket? Is bike deders?
>>
>>14975095
>http://imgur.com/a/wvX5T
I'm about 95% sure that bolt is just a hard engine mount, and so can not be the source of the leak. It has to be coming from somewhere else and running down to there. I supposed it's possible that's a banjo bolt and used for oil routing around the head but that'd be full retard.

I wouldn't give a single fuck about that exhaust leak, but if it bothers you that much you can try re-seating the muffler pipe on the header and/or tightening the clamp. Wrap that shit with header wrap too mang.
>>
I'm going to be buying a bike within the next month. The only thing is that I live in Satan's vacation home where the temps will be 100+ in June. How do you deal with the hot temp? I've seen the cooling vest, but I want to ride to work and they look like they'll soak you. What do you do?

I'm looking forward to winter riding this year. My bike sits at about 80-100C and the heat radiates up. It was a bit much in Summer but it should be lovely in Winter.

Up until now I've had to deal with an early 90s carbed engine and living in an area that is elevated and cooler than anywhere else in this city.

Up here just outside the metro in MN I rode through basically all of December
>not a single car on the road when I went for a joy ride
>everyone else was going super slow when it was just dusting out and the roads were clear
>the air is so dense and crisp that my exhaust sounded like my bike made 20bhp more than it actually does
Some nights, its like riding through a dream. I need to buy a decent camera to record some footage so I can look back on it when I'm old and senile. I remember being stopped at some random intersection, it was maybe 30 degrees outside, and the snow had just started falling. It was big fluffy flakes, and the sky looked so black. It was almost as if it was snowing pure gold the way it was being illuminated by that calming pinkish yellow glow of the cycling street light as it was warming up. I'll never forget that feeling of looking up and watching the snow flakes melt on my visor. It felt like I was the only human alive right then. That entire night belonged to me and no one else.
Thats the kind of feeling I'd want to remember before I died.

You've got more weight leaning off of the bike when ever you corner hard. She may not move with you, she might tense up if you take a turn to sharp, or accelerate too hard.

Basically, every non rider female is a fucking idiot. Corner slow and give her a couple small blips of throttle on a straight. Just a tiny bit to take some wright off of your front shock, but keep the wheel on the ground. Thats all it takes to get her heart racing, and her panties sopping wet. Depends where you are. If you aren't out in the sticks your an Australian Post contractor. If you do twelve months consecutive work (four three month contracts or a six month and two threes) you become a permanent employee.

The training is pretty easy. Only bit people tend to struggle with is the right hand U-Turn. You have to do it in a meter or so.

You won't be using a CT110. The training is done with NBC110s.

Main thing to remember is the NBC gearing is taller, so give it a bit more revs than you would a CT and drag the rear brake. You'll pretty much never turn like that again after training, most of us plant our foot on the ground and pivot the bike on that. Can do MUCH sharper turns that way.

Also never short shift into second or take off in second on an NBC110. You'll destroy the clutch.

If the bike randomly cuts out and won't start (they have EFI problems) push it into neutral roll forward a bit then slam it into first. It'll start up easy again. You're meant to use the kickstart, but AusPost took them off most of them because people use them to jam the transmission on hills for weirdly placed letter boxes.

>Do I get multiple attempts?
If I recall you get four and you have to make three.

It's doable if you don't weigh a lot. It's a 9hp bike that weighs about 90kg. I've hit 110 on mine.

I wouldn't want to go any faster on it though, it's not stable at speed at all.

Mine seems to have a bit more go than most of the ones at the depot though. Only one that'll go 80kph up the hill out of the place with a full load of mail.

From memory you do a 15 meter ride in a straight line where you need to be going slower than the instructor walking, then at the end of that you do the U-Turn. So it's all one motion.

It's hilariously easy just don't stress over it and remember to turn your head and look where you want to go, etc. I was only halfway down the path when the instructor got to the end haha. With the centrifugal clutch you can pretty much just hold the revs up and ride the rear brake.

Do all your checks with the bike on the center stand (you'll instantly fail an audit if you don't do this) and when you have to do the emergency braking stuff, remember that the brakes are absolutely terrible.

When you do the group ride watch that the person behind you doesn't fall behind. You'll get shit on if you don't keep an eye on them. The way they see it is the person in front of you watches you, you watch the person behind you, etc.

Oh, it's worth checking the spokes aren't broken. It happens and the wheel can egg.

Also, HART is considered advanced training and some insurance companies will give you a discount after you become a postie. Worth asking.

If your classroom trainer is a guy called Kevin make sure you overcomplicate anything tech related. He barely understands the stuff and doesn't really know how to handle it.

Don't mention speeding, read and ride, or mega banding during training. Everyone does it and your boss will probably explain the first two but it looks bad in training...

They should really just make the tail of the dragon a toll road with a heavy fee that's closed off to non-performance vehicles.

Let the RVs and other shitheads find a different route.

I would've done the MOST on a CT were it not classified as a scooter in the ACT. Emergency stopping shouldn't be any trouble.
I assume they'll run us through all the bike checks beforehand, correct?
I've never heard of mega banding before.

they feed us? neat.

Subura pulls across the lane and stops side on in my lane, What retards have you seen today anon?

>Emergency stopping shouldn't be any trouble.
Yeah it's easy once you get a hang of the brakes being crap.

>I assume they'll run us through all the bike checks beforehand, correct?
Yeah of course but you don't want to be the guy who starts doing it on the side stand and gets bitched out.

Oh for insurance reasons you aren't allowed to adjust your own brakes without the basic mechanics training. Don't ask, I don't know.

>I've never heard of mega banding before.
We're not allowed to do it. It's when you put a band around every houses mail so you don't have to count out the letters at each point. I only tend to do it if one place has 10+ letters on a day. When I was in a regional area for a bit EVERYONE banded every house since there was no auditing.

>they feed us? neat.
On the classroom days they should yeah. They won't on the bike day.

Retard in a rental car drifted into my lane forcing me into the shoulder on the freeway. Honked my horn and he smiled, wtf?

I do that a lot. The world has never ended. The sky has not fallen. And the anti-Christ still cannot bother to exist.

>riding along at 40 in a 35
>xenon lights on my ass flashing brights
>turn around on bike and give very obvious "what the fuck?" motions
>he then passes me in a shared left turn lane
It was a brotruck so he was probably just retarded but I really don't get what he was doing, I guess 5 over the limit isn't enough for him? I thought about pinning it and watching him disappear but it didn't seem worth it.
