actually street usability is why I find it interesting, it has the same old gsx-r1000 seating position and VVT is a feature that legitimately only makes sense on a road bike soon as it improves low down torque and fuel efficiency mainly, essentially sportbikes have become more and more track focused to the detriment of their road friendliness, prime example, the new R1.
This dyno of the old and the new one should highlight what I mean, the litrebikes are now so oversquare and highly strung to get big peak hp they actually often have less power under like 10k than the old ones do, my hope is that the VVT on this one brings balance to the force and has the screaming high end from being super oversquare (14.2k redline, the same as the 2015 s1000rr supports this theory) but with that streetable bottom end supplanted back in.
and yes, of course it'd hit the track, but I'm mainly interested because I think it'll do both nicely.

What's up with the "Don't use rear brake" crowd?
I use mine in conjunction with my front brake almost every time I brake, I use increasing steady pressure on the front brake with pulsed squeezes and steady pressure on the rear brake while progressive downshifting
I don't use it while turning unless I'm holding the throttle and want to scrub off speed while maintaining stability and I don't jam on it, I just use the front of my foot and push down with pressure
Should I not be using my rear brake at all?

I was faced with the same decision about three months ago.
I ended up going with the supersport because despite the initial polarising body position, you do get used to it after a while to the point where you feel almost no pain while riding for stints shorter than two hours.
Also, the z750 has a shit build quality in comparison to most of the decent ss bikes you'll be looking at.
Personally I also find my 600cc ss to be fine to ride at low speeds and around town. It isn't as fun as riding fast but it isn't bad either.

Rear brake can cause unpredictable movements when braking at higher speeds for the smallest amount of extra stopping speed. In emergency braking, go for your life. In a normal riding situation I only use back brake to slow from less than 10kmph to a stop as it helps keep the bike more stable.

Got into my first crash using the rear brake while having a hoon on the 450. Old cunt pulled out and I jammed the rear brake and tried to control the front brake. I was doing hektic drifts for like 30 feet and almost swerved on him but I busted my knee into his Sienna left tail light/trunk.
