I drove one of these for a week, the standing acceleration is fun for a while but it really lays down after 50mph. It's otherwise completely uninspiring to drive, and since it is so uninspiring I ended up looking to the interior for some comfort... the interior is boring and lifeless, even the stereo sucks, and it doesn't have anywhere near the features of what an expensive sedan should.

All cars work that way. The kinetic energy of the car (and therefore the power required to increase speed) increases with the square of the speed. Also the power required to overcome aerodynamic drag increases with the cube of the speed.
Power is torque times the engine rotation speed. The torque made by a internal combustion engine tend to form a "plateau" for most of the rev range. This is because with a properly breathing engine, the amount of fuel and air going into each cylinder every cycle is more or less the same for most of the rev range. If torque stays mostly the same while RPM increases, your power output is going to increase with RPM.
On the other hand, batteries are able to instantly put out the same power regardless of what the motor speed is. So as the motor speed increases, the torque must go down in order for power output to stay the same.
tl;dr the faster you go, the more power you need to keep accelerating. Power of ICE engines increase with increasing RPM, the power of electric cars say the same at all speeds. That's why EVs seem to slower to accelerate at higher speeds.
