>Been working on the Jetta today, got it up and running after a year. OBD2 is amazing. Starting to take a shine to the car again, comfortable (Love my leather seats) and well mannered, plenty of space, reliable as fuck engine (I'd hazard the AE827 is more reliable than a D, at least in my experience. Bonus points for non interference.)

Wish that the CRX was able to be upgraded to OBD2, but it's going to be enough of a PITA to switch it from OBD0 to OBD1, and after that easier to just have a custom chip

>See NA Miata driving around with style bars, straight piped 1.6, fake carbon hood

I hate my Jetta to death but that engine gets no complaints from me aside from the oil burning. It's a tank. Just everything around it is ass. They must have dropped the ball with MkIV. It's cramped charred to my Civics.

>dem quads
Yea, the quality I hear took a nose dive during the Mk3, the Pueblo plant had some walkouts/protests/whatnot and I'm guessing it affected the car's. Something similar with what happened in the UK back in the day.

So far the only issues:
>Cruise control (DOA)
>Sun roof just started [last year] acting up
>Radio's LCD screen is fucked from heat. Piano black paint, and black leather interior, California = oven.
> ^ also nuked the vacuum pump, swapped that out for an OBD1
>Coilpack cracked (swapped for an OBD1 pack, runs fine now.)
>CPS went bad, replaced.
And I have NOT been kind to it, running it ragged, crashing it, and generally not giving a fuck about it.
Suprised there's no 'crayon' smell, and all my plastics are fine.

Going through a full service, CRX is now going to be covered until I get space to work on it.

I've owned it now for nearly seven years, feels good to be prepping it for DD again.

In most states when the car goes to the junkyard it can never be sold as a tag-able vehicle again. It is forever scrap. I think they list the title as scrap or something. At least thats how its done in NC

A13 here.

How much would it cost to tint the windows? I'm trying to rice it out as much we possible as cheap as possible.

I've currently got an eBay straight pipe and header on there. Cold air intake. Took off the hubcaps and will be removing the rust and painting them black. The next logical step to me seems to be to lower it, and get it tinted. I might just go with lowering springs because even cheap coilovers are more expensive than what I paid for it. I hear that degrades ride quality, but I only drive it less than ten miles a day. I'm hoping to sell it to a dumb kid come spring/summer.

Hey /hg/, this is my FG2, it loves to rev, but doesn't know what torque is. I've bought it new in 09 and just passed 7k miles.

I put the weathertech visors on yesterday, and have a set of gold Enkei RPF1's wrapped in new rubber coming in Monday. I'll probably add an HFP front lip, tint the fogs yellow and call the exterior done.

I want to do headers/exhaust/tune in preparation for an eventual supercharger.

there are some difference around the housing too i believe. all but 1 transmission bolt will line up with a d16a6 transmission and a d16a1.

The 1G ZC is 95% the same as a browntop (86-87)
The 2G ZC is 95% the same as a blacktop (88-89)
>Both of these engines (Brown/blacktop D16a1 DOHC) came in 86-89 Integras
>SOHC ZC is very similar to the D16a9 I think, can't be arsed to remember what models and years, but I think the US only got them in the CRX/Civic Si from 88-91

>there are some difference around the housing too i believe. all but 1 transmission bolt will line up with a d16a6 transmission and a d16a1.
This AFAIK Is correct, I'm pretty sure most cable trans from Honda for the D and B series can slap on to it.
Also fantastically enough, the stock CG tranny for the ZC/D16a1 can fit B series LSD's, and the fifth gear from an A20a powered Accord
>Coincidently if you want a car that drives like a 2G CRX, settling for an LX-i CA Accord is not out of the question.

Ep3 is better chassis overall than the rsx, however it's slower than the type s,, all of them are riced usually, usually people swap k24s in like I am with mine,, needs a 22mm or bigger rear sway to make the car oversteer

Hey guys.

So, I just bought a 2000 Honda Prelude Type SH, and I don't regret it. Fucking awesome car, and fun to drive.
The car runs great and there aren't a lot of problems. The main problems are just parts that are missing, a busted motor mount, or shit that's been ghetto rigged by the previous owner. None of it really bothers me except for one thing I noticed: When the car is idling, usually when I stop at a stop light/sign, or when I first turn the car on, the engine revs up about 500 or so RPMs and back down, and back up, and down again and continues doing that. I popped the hood, and the entire engine lurches back a bit and goes back to its "rest" when the rpms drop, before going up again. Anyone know what the problem is? What should I check or fix? Here's a video so you guys can hear and see it.

I was specifically talking about B powered Preludes, and still I'd say the F22a is more reliable than the H22a.
They seemed to have solved _some_ of the issues with FRM cylinders by then.

Largest downfall of the 3G is the halfbaked B20a and B21a. Throw a F22a or H22a/H23a and suddenly it lasts three times (F22a) or twice as long.

I'm eccentric though, I'd prefer a 4G Prelude S (F22a) over an Si (H23a) or Vtec (H22a). I've never been a fan of Honda's bleeding edge of tech (Except for the mechanical 4WS of the 3G Prelude, and there push to move there F1 PGMFI into passenger cars, which coincidently tie in with Soichiro still holding sway*)

$16.74 for two quarts says my last receipt. Most clutch kits will come with one if you buy the kit.

Doing a clutch in a B series sucks. D series is not hard, you're lucky.
>>
>>13998795
Bought three quarts and it cost $28.78. Must have gone up in price, $8.82 per bottle. Would have been cheaper with Amazon. I bought the clutch kit from my friend and the tool disappeared.

Dealer still has a ton of 9th gen Civics on the lot. Bet they're gonna drop the price a ton to make room for the 10th gens that are already there.

Got my new wheels/tires on today. Just need to paint stock center caps. Anyone know where I can find some red vinyl "H"'s for the centercaps?
>>
I was just about to go take my fixed wheel off the hatch and try painting it but work called literally right before I got out of my chair. Damn.

I need the money anyway though it probably won't be much.

Hey y'all. Checking out a 1984 Civivc wagon with the 1.5L engine and 5 speed manual. For 800, frame looks okay. Little rust, lot of mold. Interior is Clean as fuck. What can you guys tell me about these little cute things?
>>
>>13999533
It's carbureted as well. Never driven a carbureted car.
>>
>>13999533
From experience, I can only say check the balljoints. A friend of mine had one and one of the lower ball joints failed and left him on the side of the road. Car survived (was only going ~30mph) and with a cheap replacement from the junkyard it was up and running. I don't know if it's a common problem on them (probably not) but as with any car that age you should look it over really well for worn out parts (or have a mechanic).

Neat little car though, although when you floor it, it won't go any faster, just get a bit louder.

Lol. Thing doesn't even have more than 100hp. The CV Axle boot is rip, but then again so is mines. I'll check the control arm and the rack and pinion if I can.

question, does the front have any coils or is it just a strut???

(Sorry for sideway pictures. I'm on my phone.)

coils I think, but it's been years since I've looked at one.

Guessing it's not the 4WD pushbutton.

Check the torsion bar tube mounting points for rust.

>question, does the front have any coils or is it just a strut???
This always fucks with my head because people use terms interchangeably when they shouldn't
Should be shocks up front, and struts in the back.

Other than that, enjoy the rev happy little 74hp bugger EW1

I've got an EW1 CRX but I haven't touched it since I bought it, think it's got a blown headgasket, or warped block/head because I have milkshake coolant

beats me lol, it's also my first carbed car as well, and I have to dump fuel just to get it started, then it starts smoking and all this other fun stuff.

I decided to upgrade and get a stage one exedy clutch since I do track and then I bought the exedy racing flywheel 9lbs, stock is 15lbs

Buying a buddy a case a beer and then we're going at her like mad men, sucks I gotta drop the subframe and unbolt my exhaust to get to the transmission, such is life for a fwd clutch job

To add to this I want to look into upgrading my speakers, Its a 2007 Accord/TSX. Think it has the same radio as the American Accord, its the Non Sat Nav one if that helps.

Has anyone knowlage on this?

Is it a big job?

What are good speakers?

Would you guys trust Halfords or whatever the U.S. alternative is?

Yo f a m, at what interval (km) should I replace my timing chain on a civic? I was planning on driving till 125,000 kilometers before having it replaced.

Car is currently at 104,000
>>
>>14004990
I think they say to do it every 60k miles so 100k kilometers in rest-of-the-world measurements.
>>
So my wheel's rim was machined and is now smooth as fuck. Should I sand it before I prime and paint? What grit? Gonna be doing it before the weekend.
>>
>>14004990

Speakers are easy plug and play usually, the hardest part is getting to them. Crutchfield will give you instructions for your car. Pioneer is a good brand.

Should I upgrade suspensions, get roll bars/sway bars, and increase handling performance first or save up to drop in a #JDM k20a and rsx transexual?
>>
>>14006381
always do suspension first

otherwise you'll end up with a fast, but very floppy car. I learned that the hard way
>>
>>14005353
how smooth, like polished smooth? you don't want a mirror finish or the paint won't stick. It should be scuffed (hazy, lots of very fine scratches you can't feel). Also make sure you use a surface prep agent to remove any grease or oils.
>>
>>14006469
I'll take a close up pic when I get home from work. It's pretty smooth though since the guy put it on a machine to shave off material until it was smooth all around.
>>
>>14006392
Suspension I think is more expensive than bolt ons and intake manifold,

I wanted to do suspension first, and then I heard my buddies rsx-s with buddyclub exhaust and I decided to do race headers with hks straight exhaust which I get compliments on all the time, the biggest upgrade though is rubber I went from getting horrible lap times to competiting, unfortunately rubber is super expensive and I ended up buying a k24 to do my k20z head swap on with type r cams which I jumped the gun. I sold my 24 mm rear sway to fund the engine project, in hindsight o shouldve put the rear sway on

Very low RPM? Is it like that all the time with your foot off the gas? Must be a dead idle air control valve. It should be on the back of the throttle body.
>>
>>14007024
wat.
You can get a 22mm sway bar for $20-40
Stiffer than OEM shocks normally cost $40 each.

Or maybe I just know where to shop and what to buy
