OP pic only serves to remind me that I've still got heaps of deep cleaning to do on the Subaru I just bought.

Then again, I've a laundry list of things to do before I turn this over to daily driver duty.

>Differential oils
>Replace leaky-ass radiator
>Rip off the roof rack rails, strip/sand, spray with truck bedliner
>Replace sunvisors with Panther platform dual sunvisors
>Replace a fog light

There's more but that's the important shit.

Pic related is 15 years of previous owner.

Thing isn't bad. Interior is in good shape aside from accumulating 15 years of filth which never got cleaned. Why nobody does a yearly cleaning where they remove all the seats/center console/etc is mind boggling. Also, PO spilled some mad coffee in the passenger footwell. Gonna take a lot of oxi clean to get that sorted out.
>>
>>13925323
you dont have to take the engine out to replace a main seal. just have to drop the trans.

but if youre taking it out anyway might as well wait i guess

Been putting off changing my oil for a few months now, my dickbag Apartment complex bans automotive maintenance of any kind on their property, but now that I've got time over Thanksgiving break, I'll do it over the weekend. Think my brake fluid needs to be changed as well. Probably spring for some winter tires as well, been losing traction on wet pavement, so it'll be hell when the snow and ice rolls around. I'm sure some company's having some weird sale on Black Friday now.
>>
>>13925314
My trunk light is out and so is a fog light. I mean to do them but still can't bring myself to buy the globes for it since the auto place near me makes you ask for the lights from behind the counter instead of picking yourself. And wouldn't you know it? They pick the premium light and they look at you like a cheap dick if you ask for the cheap one.

They're just fucking lights, I don't need premium tire lights.

My exhaust manifold is cracked horribly to the point of making my exhaust pop and crack loudly every time I let off the gas. Been that way for probably 15-20k miles. Finally going to be replacing it this weekend but I've really been putting it off.

Cleaning the outside, and hitting the interior with the shop vac. But that's just small stuff I can actually do.

Recently sorta sold it for $200
Ended up doing a spark plug and oil change after. Finally confirmed I have a faulty coil pack.
Hopefully more work to come in the next couple months.

I gotta replace the radiator, it used to seep coolant but now it's starting to leak and drip. Good thin it's only $150 and a fairly easy job to do.

I'd much prefer a small amp/sub combo under the seat that doesn't really take up much space. and instead of it being in the boot with the rear seats in between, the under seat one is in the cabin so it probably makes more of a difference for the same or less power of the amp/sub. I should have bought that motherfucker and 2zz swapped it for about 2 grand, shit, even a 6 speed for about 2500. I have a feeling not buying it will haunt me for a while.

I did that with the whole center console, it was absolutely filthy when I got it, but at least the previous owned didn't smoke in it. >>

2.5 4banger. I honestly don't know jack about Subarus, so I bought the cleanest one I found. Mileage was a non-factor; Condition is everything.

Subaru owners are really hard to talk down prices with. I wasn't even planning on buying mine (didn't need the car), I just wanted to play the game and haggle for fun (something about making a person stand back and think for a long while is very satisfying), but I told myself before going in that I'd buy it if I could get it beneath a certain price. It happened, and not intentionally, so I took ownership of it the very next day.

I reckon since there's no rust, I could flip this thing up north and make a tidy profit, but I kinda like it and have grown attached to it as I've racked up the hours working on it and cleaning it up. Not really a fan of automatics, but I don't mind this so much.

In fact, I removed the roof rail things (not the actual racks on the sides of the roof, but the rails that run the length and protect the paint from luggage) and stripped/painted them with truck bedliner tonight. I'll post pics tomorrow after they dry.

What do you mean by hub style bearings? I know that I have to get the entire steering knuckle off of my car, which means unbolting it from the strut, cracking the ball joint, taking off all the brakes, disconnecting the tie rod, etc... Then I need to take the hubs to a shop with a hydraulic press so they can press the old bearing out and get the new one in. I watched a video on the entire process and it seems like a truly painful exercise.

Not like it really hurts anything as long as its not leaking massive amounts of exhaust near the head....although, i did find if u have leaks near bolts. >have to change brake fluid

This really isn't a maintenance item, and I don't get why so many people here have to do this. I've owned dozens of cars, all of them older, some with high miles, and never once have I needed to change the brake fluid. If you maintain the brake hydraulic system, it will never get contaminated. Just clean the fucking cap before taking it off, like you're supposed to. Keep the slave cylinders inspected so that you never get leaks. And inspect the lines and hoses to prevent rusted metal lines, or cracked rubber hoses.
>>
>>13931974
If it goes through a 120 point inspection, and has literally nothing that they recommend needing replaced or repaired, it's probably in good shape. So not a scam, he's just a retard for thinking normies will check the oil.
