I have a small gs500e (yes its a meme bike)

Anybody know where I can find some SMALL hardcase panniers? They have to be lockable and waterproof because of the many niggers and wops that might steal shit.

All I see are massive 40-50 liter cases that would make my gs500 look even more retarded

1200 bucks which is like a week's worth of pay for me.

It's totally a shitbike- the thing won't idle at all so I have to either clean or replace it's pilot jet. Other than that though, the motor sounds great, it runs very strong, and it's in decent shape for a bike from 1979. It had the original title too.

On old ass bikes, having the title is kind of rare- and usually when there is a title, motherfuckers like to jack the price up unreasonably. Dunno how you guys across the pond do it, but that's just how it is here in the US. I feel like I did alright for 1200 bucks.

high voltage, sensor one bank one. same code on the new ecm as well.
i get the feeling the first guy put the wrong o2 sensor in the thing which is why is started immediately throwing codes and no one else thought to check it. so i stayed up researching some shit myself.
not sure why they had a module specific sensor but most of that year have a 3 plug ecm but i have the "next gen" unit with 4 plugs

maybe ill pick up an old carbed rig again and make it my riding rig. i miss my old shorty tradesmen with the 440 in it.

it cant modulate the fuel without that one so i run a good chance of burning out the cat if i run it as is, plus it runs like ass comparatively and lost about 20% of its mpgs
i already picked up a denso (oem) sensor for the next gen module, im just going to put it in later today.

1) 80% of the horsepower and 80% of the weight [not to mention more torque], it would probably come down mostly to gearing

2) The fact that you are trying to talk up your street bike by saying you'd beat a dirt bike in a drag race should probably tell you something.

>>13823318
I haven't looked at it yet but I'm reading the horror stories so I want to get it done. Apparently on the 650R the bearings aren't sealed or not sealed very well so they like to rust and make it near impossible to remove the suspension bolts. That's what I get for buying a race bike ;_;

I do have a tap kit. I need to make the weird castle tools to pull the pivot nut off. Will work on that this coming weekend as I just started 7 days of 12 hour shifts. No time to do shit but my next check will be awesome.

XR650R does not. It was built as a race bike so I guess they assumed the suspension would come apart after every 1000 miles or so for new bearings and shit anyway. The XR650L does have zerk fittings on the suspension linkage I guess.

>>13823438
Man I fucking love Powerwagons.

I'm debating getting the bearing kit and just putting new bearings in when I take it apart regardless of the shape of them. Need to get some good waterproof grease too.

Just bought a new chain too, need to get sprockets and sprocket bolts. This chain is in the worst shape I have ever seen a motorcycle chain. probably an inch+ of sideways deflection
>New bike expenses
>>
>>13823451
thats honestly not that terrible, my old chain tore out the side of my mudguard because it flew around so much. but if you have it down, you may as well get bearings, saves headache later, see about adding a grease zerc on the case or slather the bolt in neverseize paste on the way back in too.
>>
>>13823448
>>13823451
Huh, guess the PO must've put them on my 600r, I always thought it was factory. Still, I should probably check on the bearings soon.
>>
>>13823466
That is after I tightened it [probably tightened it too much but I couldn't take how loose it was when "properly" adjusted]. Only shitty things is the bearing kit is like $80, we'll see. I want to try to pull it apart and check if any of the bolts are seized to see if I want to do it while I do the chain.

>>13823467
600 may have had them factory, I just know the 650R didn't.

save a few bucks and go with all balls? never had any failures on them.
when it comes to wheel bearings or stem bearings, if you get the sizes call a bearing shop mcguire and you can get much higher quality for less money.
>>
>>13823255
Yeah that's my current plan.
>>
>>13823495
I'm trying to figure out if the Pivot Works kit has everything in it that I need because there's a store on eBay selling the kit for $55 [that's the same kit XR's Only sells], that's the only kit I can find less than $70 or so. The All Balls kits are around $70.

I have had one All Balls failure but stayed with them because they were excellent about dealing with it. I put their rear wheel bearings in my FJ and after probably a year they got notchy and made nasty noise when riding. I emailed them telling them the issue and they sent new bearings out to me even though I bought the kit from some random eBay store.

Only thing I want to know is does that kit include linkage bearings or is it just the swingarm stuff? They don't detail what is in the kit. I'm not sure the linkage bearings suffer the same fate as the swingarm ones but it would be good to know it's all new.

Ride 7/10th's your skill level. Flick your eyes down for gravel checks. Put your leg out and point your toes toward the corner. Keep your eyes mostly fixated on going through the corner, where you want to be. Don't cut throttle mid corner. If you need to desperately shave speed in a corner, stand it up, brake, throw it back down.

I just have to run by my old shop to use their terminal kit. Connections got ripped out and I can just splice them back together ez. Weather has been pretty wet so I can't really ride anyway.

What do you think of using my Hornet as a full time helmet? Is it stupid to use it as an offroad helmet? My biggest issue is ventilation which the Hornet does well but not nearly as well as an offroad helmet.

Trail got pretty bouncy and its mounting bolt wiggled out. It must have been dangling for a while before it finally gave.

jay leno is a dbt success story, they pestered him about his trip until he actually dropped it. (for a few threads straight he was claiming he only used his trip when it was relevant with was demonstrably untrue)

If you want to enjoy riding get a cbr250r or at least a CB500. Old UJMs are notorious for having shit suspension and cb750s in particular are hipster taxed to shit

in the desert it might not serve you the best. i use my variant as my main lid for anything involving much road or inclement weather. low speed hot days suck in the variant since the lens is so big it just sunbakes inside with the visor down
but i still prefer the fly for anything low speed or strenuous since it airs out really nicely.

I don't mind the colours, not a big fan of the 46 though.
But the €600 is definitive reason I'm not getting it.
