Anyone know of modern bands which have the same style to late Scriabin (Roslavets, Feinberg, Sabaneyev, Blet, etc)? Kind of want to branch out to newer music and I've explored enough of classical.

Also Florent Schmitt is the best.

Also check out Amirov's concerto on arabian themes

Bortkiewicz would also be just who you're looking for. Dripping with lush romanticism. Try his elegy

Florent Schmitt (like Ravel mixed with Scriabin. Amazing late piano works: Ombres, crepuscules, symphonie concertante)
Emmanuel's 6 sonatines are masterpieces
Frank Bridge sonata and earlier accessible stuff
Ropartz prelude marine et chanson
Karayev's preludes
Sabaneyev's piano output
Roslavets
Feinberg sonatas
Vladigerov's autumn elegy
Mariotte's impressions urbains and other piano works
Pierre octave ferroud's piano output (incredibly unique)
Mosolov's sonatas
Hure's masterful quintet
Pasternak's sonata
Griffes' tone poems and roman sketches
Koechlin's paysages et marines
Stanchinsky's entire output
Decaux's one and only masterpiece clairs de lune
William Baines entire output
Erwin Schulhoff
Ernest Pingoud's orchestral works (like those of late scriabin)
ernest fanelli's symphonic tableux

bit of a long list desu could have thinned it down

There's a few select channels with amazing catalogues eg olla-vogala, fyrexianoff, hexameron (closed and no longer up), Medtnaculus, etc.

Olla is into music of all sorts and has a great selection of everything. lots of good obscure stuff
Fyre has all sorts of music from Medins to far more modern soviet composers. Mostly if not all piano related
hexameron was the best but now hes gone :(
medt reuploaded some of hexamerons best and has lots of obscure piano rep from late romantics onwards (but lots of russian romantics, impressionists and scriabinesque composers)

Use them as springboards to find more music you like. I use spotify in conjunction with lastfm (lol) myself and have never run into trouble with finding music. Sometimes wikipedia can help too like reading up on the mighty handful or Belyayev circle

Bach is so evidently superior to all composers, yet we keep lowering the standards when we talk about other composers, to avoid the uncomfortable situation where the butt-romantic dude or the druggy contemporary boy gets anal pained when they are told the great master is better than their shitty hedonistic heros.
Instead of white guilt, in the music world there is "Bach" guilt. We keep lowering the standards for other composers to compensate and preserve our dream of marxist culturalism. Of perfect musical relativism. Guess what? It isn't true and the compositional talent and imagination displayed, which is all that counts in the end when we have to say what is worth being saved and what not, is infinitely superior in Bach's music than any other composer.
If your shitty pop muzak is an 8 what the fuck is Bach's Art of Fugue? a 400? most music is barely a 1 to 3, the Beatles fall in here and so do most other popular music with very few exceptions that reach a 4, even a 5. Bartok string quartets would be a 6, 2 degrees of magnitude higher you have works by Brahms and other great masters. Then 9 and 10 are reserved for the highest achievements of human race like Bach's St Matthews Passion or his Concerti or Mass in B minor or the Brandenburg Concerti.

A stodgy autismal over-conservative music professor and fugue-fetishist was teaching a class on Johann Sebastian Bach, known lardass.

”Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship the Baroque era and accept that it was the most productive period in the history of Western art music, even more than Viennese Classicism!”

At this moment a brave, impeccably dressed, inebriated contemporary composer who had just snorted a line of coke off a teenage classmate's back and understood the folly of a(r/u)tistic movements such as serialism and fully supported the preservation and continuation of the true old masters' legacies stood and held up a composition notebook.

”Professor, do you recognize this piece?”

The arrogant professor smirked quite Lutheranly as he leafed through the notebook. "Why, there's nothing in here but blank manuscript paper, you stupid pedophile. Is it 4'33"?"

"No. It's an opera. If J.S. Bach, as you say, is categorically the greatest composer of all time... then he should have written one, and it should be in this book."
The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and 80-disc Glenn Gould boxed set. He stormed out of the room crying those Bach fanboy crocodile tears. The same tears all autismal fanboys cry when someone else's favorite composer is different from theirs. There is no doubt at all that our professor, an anonymous craven coward who balked at accepting responsibility for his 4chan posts by using a tripcode on /mu/, wished he had taken the time to appreciate music beneath its surface aesthetics and understand the incalculable grace and poise of the great Classical masterpieces and deep intellectual current which runs beneath their simple veneer. In the final moments before his suicide, he wished so much for a requiem mass to be sung at his funeral, but alas! The lazy Bach had neglected to write any of those, either!

A pietist coin-collector lawyer professor and consistory secretary from Weimar was teaching a class on J. S. Bach.
"Before the class begins," he demanded, "you must get on your knees and worship Salomo Franck and accept that he was the most gifted librettist Bach ever worked with, even greater than Picander!"
At this moment, a talented, patriotic, ex-Thomaner organist saxon who had written 150 cantata cycles and understood the necessity of parody and fully supported tuning the orchestra to kammerton instead of chorton stood up and held up a book titled "Cantaten auf die Sonn-und Fest-Tage."
"Do you know what this is, pinhead?"
The arrogant professor smirked jewishly and smugly replied "It's a poetry collection set partially by Bach in 1729, no doubt because Bach saw a distinct lack of literary merit in the rest of the verses, you stupid Christian"
"Wrong. This contains the text to the St Matthew Passion in the appendix, the most inspired piece of music to ever come from Bach's quill, which was written by the same author, Christian Friedrich Henrici. If it was without literary merit and Schlomo Shekelsfrank, as you say, was Bach's greatest librettist, then Bach should have composed a Passion setting by him and finished his Weimar cantata cycle by now."
>>
>>66491463
The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and copy of Evangelisches Andachts-Opffer. He stormed out of the room crying those pietist crocodile tears. The same tears they cry for the 'sublime Weimar chamber cantatas' (many of which exist without even a closing chorale setting nor fugal opening chorus) when they jealously try to claw justly earned credit from their Leipzig revivals.
The students applauded and all enrolled to study law in the University of Leipzig that day and accepted Jesus as their lord and saviour. An eagle named "Vocalinbau" flew into the room and perched atop the Calov Bible and shed a tear on the chalk. The "Entwuff einer wohlbestallten Kirchen Music" was read several times, and Johann Matthias Gesner himself showed up and relieved all teaching duty from the Thomascantor.
The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died of an infection contracted in an eye operation the other day and was tossed into the lake of fire for all eternity.
Soli Deo Gloria.

I judge composers by their music, not by their worldwide recognition.

Except those two look very different. Bach's got bigger, wider eyes that lie flat. >>66494461 has smaller eyes that are highly angular, not to mention thin eyebrows and low eye spacing. The nose is much bigger in >>66494461 as well; the cheeks puffy and dropped into a long overdrawn jaw--unlike Bach's receding jawline.

But that's a caricature, a deliberate exaggeration to make people see these features in real people even when they are less pronounced.

It isn't a case of it being less pronounced, just that those two have nothing in common in regards to facial aesthetics in the first place.

You'll have to meme magic on someone else.

Being memes and liking those pieces are not mutually exclusive.

However, Beethoven Symphony No. 7 is his best symphony.

No, it is a meme because it is constantly played in various mediums, whether they are commercial advertisements, movies, video games, or tv shows. Do you know what a "meme" is?
